Re: can't get my 3.8 mustang started. Plugs are dry ie.new an not sure about back pressure in exhaust .should I go ahead and replace manifold gasket , to see if there is other problems

your question is all over the place--- plugs are dry ? does that mean no fuel --------first is engine turning over --is their spark--is their fuel --i dont understand where you would go from dry plugs to changing out a manifold gasket ---basics first no turn over check battery and connections ---no spark check ignition system ---no fuel check power filters pump

I have a 1987 ford ranger the engine turns over but it wont start

Spark at plugs? Fuel filter? Pressure on injector delivery line? Pressure relief valve? You may be able to measure fuel pressure at the pressure relief valve location. and return line. If you have spark, I'd say it's a fuel supply problem

98 honda crv engine stalls whats wrong?

The IAC [idle control motor] may be sticking. This problem usually occurs once the car exceeds 80,000 miles in service. Remove the IAC and clean it's interior with carburetor cleaner. Reinstall it using a new gasket. Sometimes, cleaning will not suffice & a new IAC must be installed. A sticking or leaking EGR [exhaust gas recirculation] valve can cause the same problem.

My car shakes a lot while at stop lights. Whats wrong?

Poor performance from spark plugs and wires. mine did the same thing. I tried to change the spark plugs, and found oil within and around the spark plug boots, which is problematic, but not the actual cause of your problem. If you find this, your valve cover gasket needs replacing.

If not, just get new plugs and wires. Got that done and shaking almost disappeared completely.

There is LOTS of oil covering my spark plugs, the other day I was driving on the hwy when it suddenly started slowing down even though my foot was on the pedal. I was going 70mph and then slowly dropped...

Hi and welcome to FixYa!
If there's oil on the sides of the engine valve cover then the valve cover gasket should be replaced. If there's oil on the spark plugs then the enginve valve seals must be replaced. Worn out valve seals can make the oil get in the plugs.

Hope this helps and thank you for using FixYa! Have a good one!

please read about causes of this misfire in the engine.
The most common misfire causes on the cars I've worked on have been:
  1. Spark plugs
  2. Spark plug wires (most common)
  3. Ignition coil
  4. Fuel injector
  5. Wiring to fuel injector
  6. Timing Belt
  7. Vacuum leak or stuck open EGR
  8. Contaminated fuel or bad fuel pump
  9. Weak compression
  10. Blown head gasket
