Question about 2001 Honda Civic

2 Answers

I have a 2001 Honda Civic, Mileage approx 135,000 and since last week when I fill my tank the gas immediately drops to 3/4 tank. I took it to my mechanic to check for leaks, there are no leaks and he has no idea what the problem is. Have used two different gas stations in the last two weeks and have experienced the problem on both occasions.

What I would do first is fill my tank, write down the mileage, and when your gas gauge drop down to 3/4 again, fill it back up, then divide gallon's and miles this way you'll know how many miles per gallon and how many gallon's to fill back up, you will also know if gas gauge is defective or not.

Honda Civic -2001. Gas fill more than tank capacity?

the sender unit in the tank ,i think it has petrol in the float so its not reading correct.with the filler neck and associated pipes then it no doubt holds nearer 15 gals or about 80 litres .I couldnt afford to buy this much petrol in one go as its just over 1 euro 20cents a litre here so that would cost me 90+ euros or if the exchange rate is right this morning thats a dollar a litre

Poor gas mileage

I hope your friend put some gas stabilizer in the tank before he store the car.

I will put one bottle of ISO-HEET (red bottle) to the fuel tank + fill-up and let it run down to 1/3 tank.

Fuel up with a full tank Chevron gas for one more pass.

Jeep liberty gas mileage

to increase gas mileage make sure you keep on top of tire air pressure you can also have your tires filled with nitrogen instead of air also a K&N air filter does wonders and is good for lifetime worth every penny. another smart move is to use a fuel system cleaner regularly Lucas makes great products for this try local parts store.

This problem may be soved but it will take some work, You must drop the gas tank or have a mechanic do it for you and clean the tank out, and look inside to see if there is something inside of the tank,

High fuel consumption

Check the following things: air filter, wheel alignment, and timing belt, all of them if not serviced on time can affect your fuel consumption. I do not think its the heat because I drive my car in Phoenix AZ with temperatures comparable to Dubai and I still get 500+ km/tank.

Good Luck,
