Question about 2002 Saab 9-5

2002 Saab 9-5 Aero won't start when hot

I have a 2002 Saab 9-5 Aero, with 206000 miles. The fuel pump was replaced about two years ago and the throttle body about a year ago. The problem I'm having is after driving it and it's hot, it doesn't want to start back up (this has happened three times). However, after sitting about 1 1/2 hours it starts and sometimes on the start it will run rough for a few seconds and sometimes it doesn't. About three weeks before this started happening it would on occasion have a difficult time starting with an extra 5 seconds or so of cranking needed and when it started it acted like it was flooded.

This engine is controlled by a computer, when a problem like this occurs a fault code is set, I suspect you have a loss of ignition spark going on here, have the system tested for the code(s) that is set when the part that is causing this stall fails, this fault code test is crucial to making an accurate diagnosis and repair and is always the 1st step in this type of problem, many parts stores run the OBD2 engine control system test for free, Kragen and Autozone do this as well as many others, have the test ryun and provide the fault code(s) and we will move on, otherwise this is all a guess with you buying th parts.

    The problem finally occurred again where it wouldn't start and I had the OBD2 tester on hand and the code was P0336 CRANKSHAFT POSITION SENSOR A CKT RANGE/PERF.

    that is it! the crank sensor is the points so to speak of the system, it senses the engine rotation and along with the cam sensor signals the computer to fire the spark plug at the correct time for each cylinder. Change the sensor, it is dealer only part so when U pick it up ask the parts person to print the page that shows the sensor on the engine and it's location, a diagram is the bet way to see this and understand where to look.

    Mounted on the crankshaft is a slotted ring with 58 ribs. Of inductive type, the sensor is mounted on the wall of the engine crankcase. The distance between the slotted ring and the sensor is 0.4-1.3 mm and it is not adjustable.

    here is a picture of the sensor (typical Sabb sensor) which is held into the block by a retainer with one screw, kinda like a distributor hold down.

My 2003 Saab 9-5 Aero 4-cyl Turbo Won't start. However, I have power in car, lights windows and radio works. But it won't turn-over. It could be Starter or Starter Relay. I can't find out

Ok, those systems might still work because the not require as much energy as the starter. Check the Battery Voltage with a good Voltmeter. If below 12, there might be your problem!

Squealing noise upon release of clutch and acceleration...intermittent...once in a while...2008 saab 9-3 aero...41,000 miles

throw out bearing.Yes with only 41,000 miles on it it can still go out.But it sounds like its just starting.It could have sat at the dealership for 6mo- a year before anyone drove it making dry spots on the bearings.

2004 Saab 9-3 Aero. replaced fuel pump aprox four month ago ( @ Aprox 100,000 miles), the last two fuel fills I have smelt gasoline in and around car (no visable leaks). Check engine light came on 1 week...

While a fuel filter won't normally cause the check engine light, it could cause other errors that would trigger the error light to come on.

Since fuel filters are easy to change and not very expensive, I would change it and see would happens. But you might also want to run a pressure test on your fuel pump also.

Our saab 2002 95 is not starting and only starts when gasoline is insterted under the hood

So the car only starts with starting fluid, is that it? If that's the case then the problem can be on your fuel pump. If the fuel pump is faulty it won't sip fuel from the tank to the engine. If that's the case, you will need to have it replaced.

Locate the TCM for a Saab 2002 Aero

The TCM on the 9-5 Aero is located behind the glove compartment.
Remove the under panel on the passenger side, and look up behind the glove compartment - the TCM is clipped onto the bulkhead.
Please remember to dicobbect the battery BEFORE removing the module.
Total time to replace the module - 10 mins!

2003 saab 95 Aero - stalled...can't get it started

Fixed it myself. I checked power and ground on fuel pump, then w/rubber mallet I banged the fuel tank and the fuel pump went on for a few seconds while someone cranked car, it started for arou 20 -30 seconds. This helped me diagn. the problem and I put in a new fuel assembly.\
