You can replace the boots(accordian seals) on the axles and install newe greasewith these, or you can replace the whole axles on each side(which would be an entirely new or rebuilt axle) for about $150 US dolllars, or replace just the boots for half of that price....I hope I could help!!

Replace the c.v boots or will damage you c.v joint's then you will need to replace the hole shaft, if you going to get it done at a repair shop you be looking about $250.00 to $300.00 both side's, if your going to do it you self parts run about $20.00 to $30.00 each.

I can't find the fuel filter on my 2004 Subaru Outback h4

Hi Joey, 2004 was a changeover period for fuel filter location....depending what month your Subaru was built, the pre 2004 models had the filter mounted under the bonnet in front of the brake cylinder, 2005 onwards is in the fuel tank!

My car has an oil leak

Its a very long process to change. Fixya limits your posts to 10,000 letters or less, my version of the procedure is well over 25,000 letters long, so you might want to purchase a repair manual from your local autoparts store, or have a shop do the job for you. The info your got is probably correct, as these do spring leaks, and your car is 13 years old.

Had a similar issue, ended up being from axel seals leaking and spraying lubricant on hot engine shields. Both front axels replaced for about 500.

2002 outback 2.5 liter eng. leaks oil behind the plastic cover plate in front of engine benind pulley. would this be a major seal?

It's the front crank seal. You have to take the timing belt out to replace the seal. The seal is mounted in the oil pump, which is bolted to the front of the engine block. Please let me know if you have questions.

Bought 3 mos ago 1997 Outback Limited Ed, 125k. Auto tranny has developed bad leak, can't find source. Also some fluid seems to be going into Differential as I can take out a QT. Drive a bit and it is...

mcdevito75, The tranny has a front pump to pump fluid back and forth to the torque converter, a seal must be leaking fluid into the diff. also the diff, has tranny fluid in front wheel drive cars so tranny fluid in the diff. is normal, Tranny will have to come out to check that front pump, or fron tranny seal.

Air conditioning won't work on 2000 subaru outback

the most common cause of course is a low system refrigerent charge, this would be due to a leak, the most common cause of leakage is the front shaft seal of the AC compressor
