Most cars newer than approxamatly 1990 have a check valve in the filler neck and some times the check vavle will stick shut. To fix the problem you may be able to just replace the check valve but you will most likly need to replace the filler neck. I am a mechanic and I am speaking from personal experience

The problem happens due to the air trapped inside the gas tank of your car. Most probably the ventilation tubes are blocked. Try to put the gas pump gun on the first stop so it will pump slower. Also make sure the nozzle is all the way in, start slowly and as it starts going, then you can increase the flow. The problem lies with the ventilation system ( for vapor recovery) for the gas tank. Essentially the gas tank cannot breath which is causing the gas to back up into the gas tank filler neck. The gas pump is doing what it is "supposed" to do and shuts off when it senses that. This normally only backs up into the filler neck when it get near full. However due to the ventilation problem, it is backing up much sooner. Also check the ventilation valve. The venting valve for the gas tank is not opening so the pressure is created in the gas tank and this problem occurs.Clean the ventilation valve and check if its faulty it needs replacement. Thanks.Keep updated for any further query.Rate the solution and show your appreciation.

Where is the fuel filter located on a 2001 Hyundai elantra

That fuel filter is in the fuel tank, attached to the fuel pump. Not a very difficult job. Remove the rear seat cushion, then remove the access panel to the pump. Remove the gas cap to relieve any pressure. Remove the ground wire and fuel lines, then remove the filter.

2001 Hyundai doesn't accuerate when it first starts. It hardly moves then slowly picks up speed.

I could b gas filter or the filter on fuel pump, or injectors most cars have gas filters on the drivers side railing on frame it's easy to change one bolt on holder and most have two clamps just remove clamps and bolt switch out put back. But be very careful it is pressurized once fuel line is removed fuel will squirt out turn face away.

2000 elantra, when you are fueling up it keep shuttng of the automatic stop on the pump, have tried different stations, so i assume it to be a vehicle problem. did not see anything that would obstruct...

if some one has tried to suck gas with a hose. they could have pushed the vent line back in the tank . There is a 3/4 line inside your 2 inch to releave presure. have line checked.

I have hyndai elantra 2001 automatic sometimes hesitant to start.

Sounds like a fuel pressure problem. Check/inspect your electrical connections to the fuel pump (power & ground). Also, connect a fuel pressure gauge to the fuel line at the fuel injector rail - leave it connected so if and when you have this problem again, you will be able to determine if the cause is fuel pressure/pump.

Locate fuel filter, and safety switch to fuel pump

The filter is located at the rear seat, you have to remove it first, then you will see a cap attach with some screws. Inside that cap you`ll find the fuel filter. Before you change the fuel filter you have to release the fuel pressure first. To do that, first find the FUEL PUMP RELAY in the main fuse box located in the engine. Once you located open the fuel door and take off the cap and leave it open. Start the engine, take off the FUEL PUMP RELAY and leave the engine stop itself, when this occurs turn off the key, the you can take off the filter and changed it

I , i try to find the fuel filter for my hyundai elantra 2001

The fuel filter is located under the rear seat in a compartment above the fuel tank. Also, a filter sock at the base of the fuel pump located
in the fuel tank.

On 2001 models the fuel filter is part of the fuel pump. To replace the fuel filter, disconnect the negative battery cable, remove the back seat and take fuel pump cover off to get to the fuel pump. Then you have to 1) disconnect the electrical connector from fuel pump/fuel sending unit, 2) disconnect the high pressure hose and the fuel return hose from the fuel pump and 3) remove the fuel pump mounting flange screws. You can then lift the fuel pump and replace the filter.

Good luck and hope this helps

Gas problems with my 2001 Hyundai Elantra

remove the fuel tank and check that all the hoses connected to and from the tank are not clogged and in good condition...the reason why the fuel pump clicks is that it senses that there is fuel near the nozzle of the hose which means that the fuel you're putting isn't draining as fast as it should be
