Not sure why you would want to clean it and not just replace it..... it's a cheap part that is normally replaced as part of a tune up. To clean it, remove it and spray it out with a spray degreaser, engine cleaner, carb cleaner, etc. Make sure to rinse it completey and make sure it's thoroughly dry before reinstalling.

It's PITA, the EGR valve is located on the back side of engine (Firewall side) You might want to try using Deep Creep from Seafoam to get your upper intake manifold and EGR valve cleaned without removing it. Here is a link to the Seafoam products and it's worth a try first before you go through the pain of removing the EGR valve on your Ventura.
Thank you for using fixya and good luck

Jurking when going up hill

Check out the EGR Valve or a Cylinder misfire

No check light on the dash?

If so, get the codes & go from there

Do not replace any parts

Use the codes to diagnose the issue

Codes don't tell you what to replace

My 2000 chevy venture i have two engine codes p0449 exhaust gas recirculting sensor circuit low and p0449 evaporative emission control system, vent control circuit malfunction does any body know what would...

Clean the carbon out of the intake, and the EGR ports, use some carb cleaner and gently use a coat hanger for the smaller hole, toothbrush for the rest. They are probably clogged. Take the EGR valve back off to do this and the air tube off of the throttlebody, you can open the butterfly by hand and clean that too while you are in there.

My 2000 chevy venture when is running maybe over 40 mph the iddle starts going down and up, why?

could be several things, like dirty air filter, fouled spark plugs, bad gas, bad fuel pump, clogged fuel filter (probably located on the pump which is most likely located inside the fuel tank.) bad EGR valve, a vacuum leak... the list goes on and on. but most of these would cause a trouble code or service engine soon light to illuminate. if that light is on then you might want to get a parts store to read the codes for you and then repost with the results. good luckl

My breather tube coming from the air cleaner came off. Where does it connect to the motor?

most likely to come from the EGR valve or Emmisions controller. this also regulates the idle control valve and amount of pressure going to the intake manifold.

hope this helps

EGR replacement

If you are facing the engine from the front of the vehicle, the EGR valve is located to the right hand side of the engine compartment, mounted behind the air intake/trottle body assembly. It is bolted to a bracket that is bolted to the rear of the lower intake manifold.
There is one bolt that holds the EGR tube to it and two bolts that hold it to the intake manifold take them out, unplug the electrical connector and its off.

When you replace the EGR valve, you need to clear the DTC codes from the ECM. Auto Zone can clear the codes, but before they do that you need to disconnect the egr wire harness and then reconnect it soon as the codes clear. The ECM needs to reset it self with the new EGR. If you can not get to a place that will clear the codes for free, Disconnect the EGR wire connection. Place the ignition to the run position and pull the fuse to the ECM (Batt) for 20 sec and place it back in and reconnect the EGR. Start the Montana and it may stall when it starts, Let it stall and DON'T TOUCH ANYTHING. It's just the ECM recalibrating it self to the engine, just start it up again the second time and things should be good as new.
Good luck and hope this helps.
