My AC was first only working at the max setting now not at all

My AC was first only working at the max setting (5). Then it stopped working all together. I read online and some people say it is the resistor and some say the blower motor and/or blower switch. how do I know which to replace?

Start at the resistor check for voltage with and blower motor switch on, if no voltage check fuse, if fuse ok check blower motor switch for voltage coming out to resistor, if none bad switch, if you do have voltage at resistor check voltage at blower motor, if there is voltage replace blower motor.

Could be the front clutch on the AC unit playing up but without a play i couldnt tell you ,maybe even a contact somewhere along the line who knows but i cannot get over this cavalier attitude of just bought a can of gas which is a lethal poison R124 is a dangerous substance and you buy a can over the counter ,here in europe you have to do a course and hold a certificate before you buy a canister of this gas which is a minium weight of 12kgs for using on the approved type of machine for refilling a car.

Fan does not work on 5 and the ac stopped cooling, connected?

Not likely.. The fan speed swich position # 5 is out but that would not have anything to do with to ac not cooling..

AC STOPPED BLOWING COLD; ONLY BLOWS ON MAX MANUAL SETTING

Your AC is low on refrigerant; The AC compressor needs a minimum amount of regrigerant to run. If and when it does run (while low on refrigerant) the air coming out of the vents will not be cold. The refrigerant you require is R-134A and is available over the counter but if you are the least bit unsure as to how to add refrigerant, taking it to a garage that does AC recharging would be your best play. If you want to try to add refrigerant on your own you will need the following, 1LB can of R-134A, an AC hose adapter to deliver the refrigerant, and preferably an AC pressure guage to ensure you are not overfilling the AC line which will damage the system.

Sounds like your temperature actuator is not moving or your temp door is broken. On max a-c ,coolant is shut off to your heater core allowing only cold air in.

HVAC Blower functions only at highest (4) switch setting

if the blower works on high then its not a fuse it could be the switch or the resistor that cuts back power for the lower settings
