It could be an ABS sensor or most likely the speed sensor ring (reluctor ring) in one of the wheel cv joints, these are well known problem areas and give this sort of problem/indication. Sooner or later a fault code will show up which will point you toward the offending corner. Recomend that you have the cv boots checked for damage this could identify the problem area.

How to fet the abs light off

on most ford cars and trucks the dash lite ABS should lite up when first starting engine then after it self tests itself the light should go out ,if the light stays on it's an indication that the self test has detected a problem with the ABS system, and in case you don't know what ABS stands for thats ANTI LOCK BRAKE SYSTEM yes thats the things that stop your car when you depress the pedal , so thats telling you theres a fault with that, it will require a code reader to get more specific of what the problem is , and as i've said before most national autoparts stores will ck fault codes for free ,they just want to sell you the part to fix it

Have to first check for codes as with any vehicle issue
Whom ever your hearing things from is a waste of time,

2012 GMC SAvana abs stay on no DTC

Hi there,

In order for the ABS light to remain illuminated (when it shouldn't be), the OBD computer is telling you there is a fault somewhere.

Therefore, the OBD computer MUST trigger DTC's, in order to inform of malfunction.

So, its important you have your codes extracted correctly

1992 fuel injection 2.6 idle high and loping?

The brake and ABS lights could be on because of a brake or ABS problem. The ABS system uses the hydraulic brake system in addition to the ABS components.
The high idle could be a vac leak or a problem with the idle air control valve. You could check the computer for trouble codes even if the warning light does not stay on.

Engine light showing yellow

The information below was complied by me, it explains what causes the check engine light to come on and the process of finding the cause.

When the Check Engine light (or Service Engine Soon or small picture of an engine) is turned on, the systems computer control unit (called the PCM) has sensed a fault in the electronic controls of the engine and/or the emission system. When this happens you will seldom feel the car engine run any different. There are about 200 possible system faults (the gas cap is just one of them) that turn the Check Engine light on, to know what has developed a problem you must have the system tested, this is called an OBD2 fault code test, Kragen/Oriley and Autozone parts stores (USA only) do this testing for free.

ABS LIGHT AND TRACTION CONTROL LIGHT STAYS ON

ABS = Anti-lock Brake System.
TC = Traction Control System (Engine Control Module).
If the ABS lights on the dashboard permanently the ABS system is faulty. You must access the ABS & TC Electronic Control Units (ECU) memory for pull out all DTC (Diagnostic Trouble Codes), using diagnostic equipment connected to the data link connector of the car. Then you will be full informed about bad pieces (e.g.: front right wheel abs sensor interrupted, ...). After bad pieces replacement you will be able to erase all faults memored by ABS ECU, in other words reset the ABS system and turn off the warning lamp on dashboard.

I suspect bad brake pedal switch, but you should scan the ABS & TC ECU's.

Abs light stays on I have put new brake line on new calipers because they were sticking causing brakes to get hot, thats all fixed but light still stays on.

the ABS light is on because there has been a fault detected by the ABS module. It has nothing to do with the actual braking system.

The ABS module does a self check every time you start the vehicle. If it detects a problem during that self check the ABS light will stay illuminated and a code or codes for the fault will be stored in the ABS module. Scanning the module will allow you to pull the codes and proceed with diagnosing why the fault is occurring.

The most common source of ABS problems is bad wheel speed sensors or broken wires to the wheel speed sensors. Again pulling the codes from the ABS module will narrow down the possibilities.

Once you now what codes are present post them and we will be happy to assist you further.

My ABS light came on with out me useing the breaks is this normal?

No that is not normal. When the ABS light comes on and stays on you have a fault present in the ABS system and the ABS control module is alerting you to this problem. As long as the light is on the ABS brake system us disabled and you have in effect standard non ABS brakes. In order to find out what the fault is the ABS system must be tested by using a scanner, it will have a code in memory.

Why does my abs light stay on?

Dear Madam or Sir,

this is possibly due to a faulty ABS-Wheel-Speed-Sensor. There is one mounted to each wheel, the ABS control unit compares all four signals to compute the moment to intervent. If there is one signal unplausible or missing, the control light will appear to show you that there was an error recognized and stored to the control unit´s memory.

You should see the shop to access the fault memory via diagnosis eqiupment to get to the heart of the matter.

Kind regards from Germany,

AutoDoc P. :)
