Hi what this is , is the pick up for the immobilizer system, what happens is when you insert your key into the ignition it disables the immobilizer and allows you to start your vehicle, it does this by, reading the chip that is in your key, when you put the key into the ignition it then matches the code from the key chip to the ignition chip which in-turn disables the immobilizer...what you are seeing is normally hid behind the steering-wheel cowling....hope this helps

How do i hot wire my 1996 Geo Prizim my igniton just fell apart on me shattering into a bunch of pieces so now all i have is a wire harnest with all the wires that fed into the ignition what do i do

looks easy in the films, but in reality, it isn't. The main problem is the chip in the lock that is part of the anti-theft system, and pairs with the chip in your key. When both are present the ECU will release power to the ignition system. You need to make sure that stays close. Other problem is that if you short out the wrong contacts, you can blow fuses and damage wiring. My advice is get a new lock.

Wire from computer to battery broke. We fixed the wire. Now the car starts then revs up and down then dies.

ECU has forgotten Throttle Position.

Turn ignition to KOEO for 30 may hear throttle clicking fro a few seconds.

Turn ignition completely off . Now start engine...idle should be 800rpm and steady.

If not the Throttle Adaption needs setting ( or your throttle body is dirty of faulty....unlikely if it was OK before.)

Engine starts for half second and dies

Yes, I think it too is the theft system. Vehicle Anti Theft System...VATS. Anyhow, when you turn the key to the "run" position does the "SECURITY" lamp become illuminated in the guage panel? If so, that is normal. BUT...if it is flashing then that means the VATS security system has been activated. This happened to my friends 1996 Buick which is the same thing as your car but with a different body. Any how, here is how I fixed the problem:::::::::::::::: Find and CUT the flat ORANGE wire underneath the drivers side dashboard. Remove 3 inches of the orange sleeving from BOTH HALVES of the orange wire leads. Inside the orange you will find TWO WHITE WIRES, these are the wires that run from the micro chip in your key to the computer. I will now refer to this orange wire as having two sides...the KEY SIDE and the COMPUTER SIDE Anyways, take the two white wires that lead up to the key switch and strip an inch of protective coating off the ends of them. NEXT, Do the same with both the white wire leads that go towards the cars computer. OK, Now here's the easy part, Take the two white wires that run to the computer side and touch those COMPUTER SIDE wire leads to the actual micro-chip in your key. !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! yes, get on your back and physically hold your key underneath the dash board and TOUCH BOTH COMPUTER SIDE wires to the micro chip in your key.......One wire touches the front of the micro chip and the other wire touches the back of the micro chip. Once you do this, the anti theft system will reset its self and you can reattatch the (now) four WHITE wires to eachother. Now you can start the car. If the SECURITY light in the guage panel is off then you are in good shape. If it is lit up then you have a problem with the key side of the orange wires. And it is probably right at the key cylinder on the column. NO.........a new key or cylinder will not fix it. But the car dealer can fix it for 500 bucks...It requires a whole nother column with YOUR key cylinder and YOUR key installed into it. Then that column installed into your car. So, any how if the light is on AND YOUR BATTERY EVER GOES DEAD then you will have to do the-under-dash-board-wire-touching-thing-again....

The key to the ignition with the chip need to be replace but how and where do i go to get a new key and can the old key be reprogram?

Don't go to the dealer, cause they are way expensive.  Call a couple of local locksmith shops to find the cheapest price.  Also, look on e-bay for the key and chip to save money and then all you gotta do is pay for the labor to have the locksmith program the thing for you.

How do i bypass the igniton

If your looking for someone to tell you how to hot wire a car, your not going to get much help here. If you need information on replacing the ignition switch, or disabling the ignition before cranking the engine over for servicing then you've come to the right place.

1992 subaru legancy no spark from cylinder 3 and 4 pls hellep thanks

look at the igniter. you should have 2 wires that have a 5volt square wave form. These are the signals coming from the computer. You should also have 2 wires that have a ignition primary wave form. These are the signals that the igniter sends to the 2 coil packs. If they all looked ok. check the igniton coils. if all looks good then look at the crank and cam shaft signals before the computer. If they look ok check for good power and grounds to the computer. If all looks good have the computer repaired.
Sounds pretty easy doesn't it!!!????
I hope that helps

Ignition - Key seems to not connect when turning to start

had this problem with my 1996 buick regal. the vats ( vehical anti theft system) wire broke in my steering column. you can dissasemble the column and re solder the wire back together or you can find out what ohms the "chip" on your key is. take a voltage meter and put it on the ohms setting. place each of the leads of the tester on opposite sides of the chip on the key. this will tell you the resistance of the chip. go to radio shack and buy a resistor of the same ohms range. around $0.99. look under your dash and find the wires that go to the vats system. i think they are orange. cut these wires and solder the resistor to the wires like an inline fuse(not the wires that go to the column, but the wires that go to the vats computer) this will bypass the system and your car will start and run normally.
