Service Engine light on means that your computer pick up a bad signal from one of your engine sensor's, go to any auto parts some one like autozone where they can pull codes from your computer for free, don't buy any thing till you have it check at a repair shop, or get back with us here at FixYa with the trouble code so we can help you diag. your trouble code.

Astra goes limp mode once service lifght comes on

this is normal practice to protect the engine /transmission from costly repairs. Run the fault codes to find which sensor is activated. Check all fluid levels (coolant at the radiator cap). Fix the fault and use a scanner to reset the light.

Check engine light

Check levels if fine and not over heating clear the engine light sometimes changes in level will trigger it. If light comes on again after adding fluid. Then you know its something further but unlikely if it hasn't been over heating. If your losing fluid you might want to check around pump to make sure gasket seal is still good or check and make sure plastic turn opening valve on bottom of radiator isn't loose.

Service engine soon light

Check all your fluid levels. Oil, coolant, (only when engine is cool), brake fluid, also check that your fuel cap is on tightly. If these are all ok then you will have to have the vehicle checked for trouble codes via the cars on board diagnostic computer.

The "Service Engine Soon" light

Hi, there are a lot of things that can set the light. When there are no symptoms, you have to get a scan to find out what it is. If your car is 1996 model or later and you live in the US, you can get a free OBD2 scan at your local parts chain. Write down the code and send it to us for analysis and advice. OK?

Please see my tip at http://www.fixya.com/cars/r5932051-check_engine_light_check. These are generic instructions. If you get stuck or need specific instructions for your car, please get back to me with model, year and engine info.

Check engine light comes on and goes off after about 5 minutes of driving. All fluid levels check out fine. Motor will knock if light stays on for any longer than 5 minutes

sdYour fluid levels can be OK and you can still not be getting oil up to the valves, rocker arms and push rods. I would suggest taking the valve covers off and see if oil is lubricating the above. Please let me know if I can be of any further help.

All fluid levels are full, all guages good, engine light stays on

The check engine light is on because the computer has detected a fault in the system. It could be a sensor, wiring or bad connection. You have to get the codes read to find out what could be causing the problem. Most parts stores will do this for no fee at all.Hope this helps.Good luck.

Engine light stays on 1999nissan quest wagon 3.3 engine

have you inspected the fluid levels and done any maintenance to the vehicle recently ...sometimes it is a reminder that fluid levels such as ...oil , transmission, brake fluid , power steering fluid air filter fuel filter etc... or of that nature is needing attention .

if it is blinking it indicates a more serious matter and should get prompt attention

a code reader can be obtained my many a parts store to give you if a code is present exactly that

sometimes if everything appears ok disconnecting the positive terminal to the battery will usually clear it ...however if not a code reader such an OBDII on board diagnostic tool will tell you exactly the reason and at your discretion are able to clear the codes

What things should i be checking when the "service engine soon" light comes on?

When was your last oil change? Check your gas cap, make sure it clicks when you tighten it. If your car is performing ok don't worry too much. Check all your fluid levels and your air filter
