Hi i want 2 buy a kia carnival and want 2 know whats the most common problem? i have seen a 2004 model lokks very clean but dont know much about these mpv..can anyone give me advise please?

Stay away from the Kia Carnival. I have discovered that all the Kias, regardless of age, have terrible over heating & engine problems, expensive to fix and unreliable.

The Carnival is a best seller in this market but it has suffered some noteworthy problems. A significant number needed new engines under warranty. They're far cheaper than most others but even so they're hard for me to recommend. Bear in mind the auto is far preferable to the manual. .

Check engine light on 2004 Sedona. Codes reat catalytic converter, exhaust, etc. Car has only 65,000 miles on. Just passed inspection less than 24 hrs prior to light coming on. Can this be anything...

I would suggest checking with dealer as most KIAs have a 100,000 mile warranty and catalytic converter as part of the emissions equipment should be covered.

Is the 60thousand milage service mandatory?

Couple of things on the 60,000 that you should really do replace all the belts and check the rear brakes. No you don't need to go the the dealer unless it affects the warranty. i am pretty sure the Kia has 100,000 mile warranty so you might want to check the fine print on the warranty just incase.

2004 Kia Sedona with 150000 miles and need to replace the engine valve due to a knocking noise? How much does it cost?

If you are hearing a knocking noise, it is usually caused by a worn component in the lower end of the engine such as a failed rod bearing. In any case, whether the failure is in the lower end of the engine or the valvetrain; you are looking at considerable cost to repair either item. Given the age and mileage of the vehicle, you may want to think about trading or selling it as the wholesale value of this vehicle is just a little over 2k.

Unsure if this is specifically related to your actual problem but there is a TSB on the side door sliders for 2004, I had mine replaced under warranty.

Low beams on head lights not working

Hi,

I had this problem.
In Canada all cars come with daytime running lights- (DRL) My 2004 Kia Sedona had this problem and it was the DRL Module.

Serach internet to find it's location. ( I think it is under the centre console, but dealer changed under warranty)

It should not be hard to find and change - It is usually just a small plastic box... plus or minus the size of a fist.

I don't know if DRL is required in the USA but it may be standard on Kias

2005 Kia Sedona

Have the coolant lines checked that go to your rear air conditioning. Located near the exhast pipes. We had a similar issue and found that there is a small area that is not protected by weather, road, etc. and corrodes. This is a known issue by KIA but they will not cover it under any of their warranties. We had a KIA dealer tell us our engine was blown because he noticed antifreeze coming from the exhast pipe while up on the rack. Tried to tell us we would need to replace entire engine until they realized it was antifreeze dripping from coolant lines and dropping onto exhast pipe. I believe that since we had this repaired, there was tech report for KIA repair shops regarding this problem. Cost of repair - $700.00. This is only one of several issues I have had with this van - will never buy or recommend anyone to buy KIA. KIA does not stand behind their so called "warranty".
