Question about 2001 Chrysler LHS
I just bought a used Chrysler LHS and have a problem with the alarm system. Everything works fine with the alarm it seems, however, when I get out of the car, lock the doors with the keyless remote, and then open the door with the key (I didn't have a remote with my previous car so I'm quite unaccustomed to using one), the alarm goes off and the horn starts honking and the lights start flashing. I guess I should say that the door was open during this time, and I didn't shut it because it threw me for a loop. I just kept hitting the panic button and that eventually shut it up, but is there any way that I can open the door with the key and NOT have the alarm go off other than disabling the alarm (because I would like to keep it on if possible, but I'd also like to open my door with the key)? Thanks.

Well first open it up completly. Remove the battery. Get a hair dryer and dry it out completly. Then let it stand for several hours to cool down. Make sure that the contacts where the battery fits are clean of any rust, or corrosion. Now install a new battery. It should work.

Try removing the alarm system relay, some car alarm has also a fuse on the alarm that you can remove.
Many car alarms unlock by inserting and turning car key while you connect the battery.

1999 CONCORDE: check the battery terminals probably they are not tight enough...something like that happened to me just the lights turned on and the car seemed to be dead, the battery is still ok since then. I just needed to buy new terminals.

Look in your manuel, there are steps to change the Key less remote setting to customize it the way you'ld like the car Key less system to work.
Good luck and hope this helps, if your still having problem. Just drive the Dodge dealer and ask the Service adviser to help you out, he or she would be more then happy to reprogram the key less system for you.
