The cruise works for a while and then drops out.Sometimes you can hit the resume and it will catch and might work for 50 miles or sometimes only a couple of miles.Sometimes you cant get it to engage.Leave it for a while and it will work again for a while.

02 TB, cruise control works intermittently, now wipers wont come on

Debbie, this sounds to me to be the control arm that turns your wipers on and also has the cruise control operation also on the lever, When this wears out you can have weird symptoms, sometimes the wipers will work and the cruise wont and sometimes the other way around. On the starting issue, it sounds like the ignition switch on the column is worn out sometimes making contact and sometimes not. If the vehicle has a ton of miles on it these plastic parts wear out and need replacing.

I want to know how to use my cruise control in my 1994 Toyota pickup. It has all the buttons and the capability but the words are scratched off and i don't have a manual.

Generally... There is ON/OFF - SET - ACCELERATE/RESUME, COAST/DECELERATE. Cruise is available at speeds above 35mph or so. Sometimes there is no main on/off. Cruise on a turn signal stem has a button that pushes in on the end, push when at desired speed. resume/accelerate slides to right, is spring loaded and return left when released. the same lever when slid left is coast/decelerate. Momentarily sliding accelerate and releasing increases crusing speed by a couple mph. If brakes are used cruise disengages, sliding resume returns you to cruise speed after braking. Coast/decelerate disengages cruise, when at desired lower speed hit set. On some, hitting set not needed, when coast is released speed is maintained. Variations may be up/ down instead or may be steering wheel face mounted. Please rate answer. Duct tape is like the force, it has a dark side.. a light side.. and holds the universe together!

I have 2003 taurus and the cruise control work sometimes. When it does work it sometimes resumes speed on its own.

Sounds like the control switches are sticking Replace them. Check engine vacuum lines as well if leaking cruise won't work.

What are the functions of Resume &Coast buttons in steering wheel

If set at a specific speed and you have to slow down by hitting the brakes, The brakes turn off the cruise control. Pressing resume automatically turns the cruise control back on and accelerates to the previous speed setting. You can also use it to accelerate and by releasing it the new speed will be set.

Cruise control works intermittently

The problem most likely is with the cruise control computer (ECU) and the fix is to replace it with an older version. I had the same problem and tried replacing other parts and even replacing the ECU with a rebuilt one of the same vintage as the 1993 model. I had the ECU replaced with the previous version at a Saab specialist and it now works all the time. There is a difference in the connections between the different year ECUs that requires some rewiring - you can find rewiring information on the internet.
