SOURCE: crank angle sensor location

The crank sensor is always located next to the crankshaft pulley. it will be inserted into the block with the top part of the housing half way out. you cant miss the wires leading into the tip of the housing next to the crank shaft pulley.

Check fuel cut off switch, if the car was parked somewhere where it could have been hit. Reset the switch by pressing down on the button.

SOURCE: location of the bank 1 sensor 2 O2 sensor on a 2001 ford escape

B1 means the sensor is located on the same bank of the engine that has the #1 cylinder. B2 is located on the opposite bank.
S1 means the sensor is located BEFORE the catalytic converter
S2 means the sensor is located AFTER the catalytic converter

You didn't say which engine you have, so I've included the diagrams of both 4 cyl and 6 cyl so you can see the banks

Check your wiring to the cam sensor and crank sensor. If everything looks good I would think cam sensor is going bad. Also check connection on ignition module.

2003 Escape. 150,000 miles. Ck engine light is NOT on. Cuts out and guages reset. Seems to happen when speeding up.

I had a problem like this that turned out to be the crank shaft sensor which, was very easy to replace. The sensor can be seen when looking down into the engine on the passenger side, near the accessory belt area.

My 2003 Ford Escape had a bad crank shaft sensor which, would cause it to stall out, mainly when the engine was hot. It often would not start after I turned off after a long drive. Once the engine was cool it would re-start. The replacement sensor was a bit differennt then the original. The original appeared to be mostly plastic, while the new one was metal. Ford must have know they had a problem part.

2004 escape where is the crank position sensor located?

We would recommend taking a look at the front of your motor, by either of the camshafts and where they exit the head(s). The sensor is either a optical or hall effect sensor, so try and find a housing that is near or around your intake or exhaust camshaft ( or just single camshaft) for the location of your camshaft position sensor

2003 ford escape no start

The solution for my problem was the crank position sensor. The only way we were able to find the problem is the escape finally would not crank and I was able to have the diagostic done at the time it would not crank and then the mechanic was able to tell the crank sensor was faulty. Hope this can help someone else, so far the escape has been running great and never had any other issue with it.
