The clicking sound is the Starter Solenoid making the sound because the Starter is not getting enough amperage to turn (start) the engine over. I would have the battery checked or tested to determine if it is good or not first, if the your vehicle has the "Original" battery that came with your GMC when it was new, it may be time for a new one.

I have an 89 grand marques, it has lights when you open the doors, and it clicks when you turn on the key, but it won't crank over. Trying to figure out why

I am posting for an f150, but it esentially has the same starting system. Just because your lights and radio come on does not mean there is enough juice to start the engine. Put a charger on your battery then try it. Better yet, I would take the battery out, take it to your local part store, have them charge it up and test it for a dead cell. Also, clean all your connections at the battery and solenoid and starter and make sure they are tight, same thing with your ground at the engine block.

Vehicle acts like dead battery but it is not.

It is a type of security system. Like you said all functions are turned off until you push button because battery is disconnected from system.

Starting the car there is a clicking sound

Hi!!

If you try to start your vehicle and all you hear is a clicking sound, is that your battery is drained. Jump Start the vehicle and take it to an auto parts store to get your charging system checked. This is a free service they provide for all their customers.

My 1989 Ford Bronco 2 won't start. I just did a radiator flush, I left the flush with water mix sitting in my car after running for twenty minutes. The next day, the vehicle would not start. Does this have...

The coolant flush would have nothing to do with the no start as long as you didn't overheat the engine. I suggest you do a fault code test on the engine control module, it is called an EECIV KOEO fault test. The instructions are at the link. EEC IV Self Test Ford Fuel Injection and EEC IV Electronic Engine Control...

Where is the ignition switch on a 1997 ford

if it is making a rapid clicking sound while trying to start it, your battery is not fine. you can try to jump it. hook up the cables properly and allow the vehicle to sit for about 3-5 minutes. allow the "jumping" vehicle to just idle. reving the engine will not do anything.

When i start my lucida it cranks once ,then clicks and clicks and

go ahead and jump it. your battery is dead or you have a bad connection with the battery cables. try jump starting it or at least hooking up a battery charger over night. (the engine size of the vehicle wont determin if it will be able to jump start the other vehicle.)

My Honda Accord occasionaly doesnt start!

Check all battery terminals make sure there is NO corrosion on terminal are they are tightly secured. If terminals are good and vehicle just clicks and DO NOT START. Get a boost if vehicle still doesn't start with boost and ONLY CLICKS then you have a BAD STARTER. If with boost vehicle DOESN'T Click and does NOTHING you need a new IGNITION SWITCH Good Luck and Thanks for using FIX YA
