Will 3.1 engine from a 2002 FWD Monte Carlo fit into a 2002 Grand Am FWD?

Yes and with hardly any parts exchange. The question says from a 2002 to a 2002 but the question description is for a 1996. Even the 96 will work but alot of the sensers will need to be moved from one engine to the other. Many Gran Am's had 4 cyclinder engines, The 3.1 will not fit them unless a huge amount of work is undertaken. The whole sub frame and everything that fits to it from the Monte-Carlo will have to be installed in the GranAm. Too much work and not worth it.

What other gm engines will fit or replace the 1996 grand am 3.1

The computer only matches the current engine displacement your car was produce with upon manufacturing. Along what is bolted behind it such as an automatic or manual transmission
If you wanted to change to a different engine you would need a donor car that is the same model and the same year. The engine harness would have to be used also. The computer would have to be change too. Numerous other engine related items would have to be switch also bolted to to body under the hood
It is not feisible to do this

Would a 2001 Jeep Grand Cherokee Laredo engine fit in a 2000 model?

The actual engine assembly will fit but you need to determine if there were any changes made between the two years in the computer or wiring harness. Also make sure that both engines have the exact same transmissions as sometimes the bellhousing patterns are different.
I'm pretty sure yours is a direct replacement though, providing both engines are the same displacement..Most scrapyards have an interchange manual that may help you. (they have to know these things...it's their business)

Will a brake caliper (drivers side)of a 1996 pontiac grand am fit a 2001 pontiac grand am?

No that will not fit the the body style changed in 98 see pontiac grand am 96-98 had the same body style and body parts. so i dont think it will work you will nedd to find a caliper off a 99-05 and that should work.

Will a 1996 Jeep Grand Cherokee 4.0L engine work

Computer hookup should be the same and physically it's the same engine. Only thing I can think of to check on is the engine mounts (not sure but there may have been a change there. Also, make sure you keep the same flywheel position in relation to the crankshaft and that both flywheels are identical in every way including tooth count.

Need timing marks for a 1996 pontiac grand am se 2.4 DOHC

YOU WILL SEE A HOLE IN THE CAM GEAR THAT A 3/8 BOLT WILL FIT INTO. PUT A BOLT INTO THE HOLES OF BOTH CAM GEARS. THEN LINE UP THE CRANK PULLEY KEYWAY AT ABOUT 12 O'CLOCK WITH THE MARK ON THE ENGINE BLOCK.

MAKE SURE TO COMPRESS THE CHAIN TENSIONER AND RELEASE IT WHEN THE CHAIN IS IN POSITION.
