What will make a 1995 ford contour transmission feels like it went into a lower gear and sometimes the rpms will tac up once it catches you will hear a noise like a belt slips then the car will **** forward it will do this for about 5 to 6 minutes and then stop

It seems like your transmission bands are slipping, it may be time for a transmission overhaul or you coiuld be low on fluid. Check your transmission fluid, if it is a pinkish color it is clean, if it is a dark red or black color and if you smell it it, it smells burnt you may have some damage to your transmission.

My 06 Ford Taurus idles rough sometimes and when I am going down the road it acts like the transmission slips into neutral. The RPMs and motor rev up and then it jerks and catches up
You may need a transmission flush, if one of the valves sticks in the transmission it may not make a quick decision to shift when in between gears. Worst case ...this may be a precursor to worse problems, like a transmission rebuild.

This is a 4x4 6cyl engine. Between 30 and 40mph the transmission hands. The RPMs go way up before it shifts to the next gear. That's the only time it does it. All of the other gears are normal, it's just...

Can you put a 1995 ford contour transmission into a 1996 ford contour?
So long as they're the same model, I don't see a problem. Just be sure to carry over the speedo gears/sensor, and the TCU, and it should work just fine.
