It would have to be the ignition switch,or a fusible link on the starter where the positive cable attaches to the solenoid. That is if there is not 12 volts to the coil.

Ignition module and/or pickup coil in distributor may be the concern.possible coil as well.

SOUNDS RIGHT THE PICK UP COIL CONTROLLS PULS SIGNAL FOR THE ECM TO FIRE INJECTORS , BEST MOVE WOULD BE TO REPLACE THE DISTBUTOR AS A UNIT.MAKE SURE YOU MARK EVERY THING SO YOU PUT IT BACK RIGHT

1985 Chevy El Camino 305ci. Turned over good but wouldn't fire. Replaced contrrol module and it started fine for about 2 months, then did the same thing. Replaced dist cap, rotor & coil. Start

Had an 84 silverado 305 that did the same thing. Try giving it a full tune up. Plugs, wires... Mine turned out to be fouled plugs. I didn't find that out till after i tore it down & put a timing set in it. Wasn't getting good enough spark.

1985 chevy has no power going to plugs I changed out distributor and rotor but still know fire?

Replace the pick up coil,in the distributor, along with the ignition module, these work together to pulse the injectors, and the spark for the coil.If one,or both of the parts are bad ,in the distributor, then this would be the problem, also,if you believe the distributor is a good part, and are sure, replace the coil, make sure the rotor button is turning,if it is not, then the timing chain has broke.Rate please,if this was at all helpful, thank you.

Chevy s 10 2.8 liter pickup won't start. getting fire and fuel to injectors, but when ready to start, fuel doesn't spray out of injectors.

Can be clogged althoug its rare to see all clogged up. The computer sends a signal for each injector to open so the computer can be bad. That is the only two choices there are if fuel delivery to the injectors are there. Did you check the ignition coil and ignition module as well? These two items control the spark to the plugs for ignition
