Crankshaft timing is correct or cam timing? Either of two things can be wrong here...either the distributor is advanced too far (perhaps a tooth off) or the timing chain gears were not indexed properly and the cam is keeping the intake valves open when the rest of the engine thinks they are closed.

I just rebuilt a 2.5 4 cyl jeep motor for a 89 jeep and it back fires though the throttle body

it's timed wrong. (EFI or carb. on the old jeep, In USA they are EFI)
1: cam timing
2: or spark (timing set wrong or firing order wrong to coil)
or both.
did you use an FSM> and read the pages on that.?

Where is the throttle body on 2007 jeep patriot 2.4

In the 2007 jeep patriot the throttle body is located on the bottom right hand corner of the engine near the cooling fan, under the coolant hose coming from the radiator. If you follow the air intake hose from the air filter, which sits right above the battery, it ends at the throttle body. Once you take the battery out, undo the air intake hose from the filter, remove the filter casing, and undo the coolant hose from the engine you will have much easier access to the throttle body. The hardest part is loosening the clamp on the air intake hose connecting it to the throttle body (tight space). Once that hose is off, the throttle body has 4 bolts to the block and 1 mounting bracket bolt and than it comes out easy.

Timing belt diagram daewoo nubira 1998

Here are the written instructions, i do not have the pictures, it is a very good set of instructions and clearly written.

Required tools:

13mm open end wrench 10mm shallow and deep socket 8mm socket long flathead screwdriver 17mm deep socket T50 torx socket 1/4", 3/8ths and 1/2" ratchets and extensions E10 inverted torx sockets 6mm Allen wrench 15mm open end wrench 7mm socket 12mm open end wrench 14mm socket 12mm socket 8mm, 9mm and 10mm Allen head sockets 19mm socket pry bar needle nose pliers

If you are doing this because your timing belt broke you will also need to buy a complete cylinder head, head gasket set, and both idler pulleys. ALL DAEWOO MODELS WILL BREAK THE INTAKE AND EXHAUST VALVES WHEN THE TIMING BELT BREAKS.

Start by removing the air cleaner assembly from the throttle body, remove the air filter and housing jack up the vehicle and remove the wheel, remove the plastic shielding in front of the accessory drive belt assembly, remove the accessory drive belt, place a jack with a block of wood on top underneath the engine oil pan remove the front engine mount, remove the crank shaft pulley ( the 4 Allen head bolts only not the 17mm bolt in the center.) remove the metal plate behind the engine mount bracket on the engine, remove the plastic timing belt cover 3 clips on top 2 10mm bolts on bottom. Rotate the engine until the #1 cyl. is at Top Dead Center on the compression stroke or line up the crankshaft timing mark with the mark on the inner timing belt cover ( notch in cover with notch in pulley) on the camshaft pulleys -- ( intake cam line up the line on the pulley with the line on the inner cover)( exhaust cam line up the arrow on the pulley with the arrow on the inner cover) loosen the 13mm bolt in the belt tensioner and using the Allen wrench rotate the tab until there is slack in the belt. Remove the belt. At this time I would recommend you replace the water pump, both plastic idler pulleys as they tend to overheat and lockup, and the belt tensioner. Make sure all your marks are lined up, you may need a helper to hold the Exhaust Cam in place as it tends to move during belt installation. Put the timing belt underneath the crankshaft pulley, install the belt leaving the intake cam for last and NO BELT SLACK on the right side between the crank and the exhaust cam. Once the belt is installed rotate the crankshaft over 2 revolutions and make sure is rotates freely, and your timing marks are aligned perfectly if not the engine will not run properly, tension the belt as needed. Installation is the same as removal.

What do I need for a tune up for my 2003 Lexus GS 300? I want to shop @ Wal-Mart for most of the content (I work there) and have the car running LOVELY lol. Please help me

To do a "Tune-up" you will need 6 spark plugs, a throttle body gasket, an air filter, an air compressor, a blow gun, a magnetic pick-up tool and a socket set with ratchet and extensions.
You must remove the intake air resonator, the #3 timing belt cover, the accelerator cable, the throttle control motor connector, the throttle position sensor connector, the accelerator pedal position sensor connector, the throttle body bracket and the throttle body. Then remove the spark plug cables and the ignition coils. You will then crack the spark plugs loose 1/4 turn and use the air compressor and blow gun to blow the debris out of the spark plug tubes so it does not enter the combustion chamber when the spark plugs are removed. Then remove the spark plugs. You will need the magnetic pick-up tool to fish the plugs out of the tubes once they are completely unscrewed.
Install new spark plugs and torque them to 13 ft.lbs (18 Nm)
Install throttle body with nw gasket. Install all other parts removed and connect all connectors.
Install intake resonator and new air filter.

I have a 96 jeep cherokee 4.0 sport. whenever i am driving steep grades at a constant 3500 rpm, i start blowing oil from somewhere. it dosent leak any other time. the rear main seal seems fine. what could...

At an Idle your 4.0 creates a vacuum between the throttle body and the intake valves. As you need more throttle less vacuum is created. The PCV ( positive crank case vent) works off this vacuum. At the back of the valve cover there is a vacuum line that goes to the intake manifold. This line can become clogged. An engine produces "blow by". If you were to take oil cap off you might see it at an idle. Check the air filter. there is a line from the valve cover that leads to the airbox. this is where the "blow by" goes when pcv line is clogged. Part 1 the problem...... part 2 the fix.
