The fuel pump is inside the tank.. Do this first.... with the ignition key set to the ON position listen for the fuel pump to run for 5 seconds.. That will tell you if its working..If no either the pump is faulty or the oil pressure sending switch on the engine is. The Oil switch is linked to prime the fuel pump once you start the car. If not heard test the lead wire from that switch leading to the pump. If that hasno voltage showing replace it

The problem might not have been the fuel pump at all. The problem could have been the fuel pump relay failing. Of course, there is the possibility that whoever did the work botched the job, failed to connect the pump inside the tank, or damaged the pump.

I would suggest that you (or someone else) remove the connector at the fuel tank, and connect another separate battery to the fuel pump wires, to see if the pump runs. If it does, there is a wiring problem or something else stopping the power from reaching the connector on the tank. A current meter electrical series with the fuel pump will tell you how much current the fuel pump is taking. Did you check to see if there is a fuel pump fuse, and see it it is burned out (open)?

Just guessing but trying to help...Your car might be vapor locked..Take off your gas cap... Do you heat KT sucking in air as you take it off...If you do your car will now start...A lot of people at the gas pump will try to get that extra fifty cent in their tank at fill ups..Thats the worst thing you can do. What your doing is putting gas down your gas vapor line...Its meant to burn vapors from your gas tank..When you over fill your gas tank this gas runs down that line into a canister that has charcoal as the filter built inside. Over time your gas will harden the filter to where it becomes clogged..Then as the pressure in your gas tank becomes greater than your fuel pump...Your car will shut off not start back up until the pressure in the tank drops....You can replace this canister... Most are behind your headlights on drivers side..Its that little black box your never did anything..On some vans there underneath...Another thing :is as these canister's go bad your putting all that broke down black charcoal right into your carburetor.. That's those lines thats those lines that are hooked to it at the bottom...So your feeding your car junk...Never over fill your car because in time it will shut off...So just loose the cap and lesson for air sucking in....Try to start it with cap off...More unlikely you have a non stock fuel cap..Either drill tiny hole in the center of cap or replacei it with factory stock...Also some cars have a fuel shut off switch that will shut the gas off in crashes...Sometimes these switches will go bad....they can be reset...Might be in truck under matting....Good luck...Hope all of this helps someone

Fuel problem with my XJ6

The gas cap is mostly used to maintain the pressure inside of the gas tank, and to keep the fuel pump from working itself to death. Sounds to me like your killed your fuel pump. Get the new gas cap, and have someone test your fuel pressure. I am pretty sure there won't be much, so replace your fuel pump if this is the case.

yes it is in the tank. but you can remove the rear seat to get to the fuel pump, instead of dropping tank. (2003 to 2005) kia sorento. fuel filter is inside tank and replaced with fuel pump as an assembly.

Fuel fill problem gas pump keeps shuts of when i try to fill

Iown 02 hyundai accent gl 1.6l. Had the problem twice. I used to over fill the tank until I had to spend close to $550.00 USD. The problem is when we overfill the tank. the carbon canister gets clogged and it damages a sensor in the assembly called "DMTL". Thia assy is located under the rear driver side of the car to the left and rear of the fuel tank. Once I replaced the carbon canister, sensor and filter the problem went away. if you let it go for a long time you eventually start smelling gas inside the car after fill ups. Good luck.

Not starting ran out of gas, added gas and still not starting, can hear fuel pump running, smell gas at engine and exhaust.

Gas line filter may be dirty and clogged. Change it. There could be sediment or dirt in the tank that you drew up to the filter when you ran out of gas and it has built up and is blocking gas from getting into the engine.

How much water do you think got into the tank? If the fuel door was closed it could not have been much. You need to have the tank drained to get all the water out, and then add a fuel dryer liquid to get any residual moisture out. After you son has done all of this, it should run fine and you should not have to replace the pump.

Evaporator vent silenoid at rear by gas tank is most likely stopped up. Is the check engine light on? If so, take to Auto Zone and get them to scan it for free. Get codes only and post them.

its the electrical connection at he fuel pump,if this is ok ask if they replaced the strainer on your fuel pump, your fuel pump is inside your gas tank ,you have to drop the tank to service, most fuel pumps are not warrantied if you dont change the strainer, when your car shuts off the sediment on the strainer falls back into the tank, but when you run your car and it sucks up the gas thru the strainer to the pump it clogs the strainer and the fuel pump cant pump, you shoiuld find out if they changed this because your forcing your fuel pump to work harder, was it a new fuel tank or used one that they put in
