Try spraying some WD-40 into the chamber and wiggle the steering wheel at the same timeyou turn the key, it might just be a dirty cylinder. If that does not work you will need to replace the ignition cylinder because it wears out on the inside over time due to all of the extra keys hanging on your key ring that add extra weight. Why can't I unlock my ignition and start my car?

Put one hand on the steering wheel and rotate slightly left and right alternatively whilst turning the ignition key at the same time with the other hand. This might release the steering wheel and start ignition.

Hope this helps.

1998 Ford Escort steering wheel lock will not unlock. Seems jammed.

The steering wheel was turned when the key was removed. So when you try to turn on the key, turn the wheel one way and the other way to release the pressure on the key. The key should turn ok.
Hope this helps.

My car can not turn the steering wheel

The steering wheel is under pressure from turning the steering when stopped.
Turn the steering wheel slightly so the pressure is released from the ignition lock and you will able to then turn the ignition key to unlock the steering wheel.
