Why does my 1998 Cadillac Deville make the steering wheel shake when I brake at fast speeds ? It is very bad and would like to have repaired.

Your front rotors are warped. If they are in good shape and thick enough they may be able to turn them and make them true again.

If they are in bad shape or to thin they will need to be replaced. Check the amount of brake pad left while you are checking the rotors. If the pads are 2-4 mm they are ready to be replaced.

It also won't hurt to check the calipers to make sure the pistons move freely and check the caliper slides to make sure they are not frozen as well.

Chirping sound on 1988 cadillac brougham as I drive it. Already replaced everything on wheel.

Check the disc brake pad thickness ( both sides of each rotor ) there is a small metal bit that when the pads are unsafe the bit scratches on the rotor to let you know to replace the pads.

Converting from std duty rotors to hd vented rotors

Turning brake rotors involves removing the rotor from car & having a machine shop or automotive repair center spin them on a lathe & slowly grind down the surfaces until they are clean, level, and true. Not needed with every brake pad replacement.------------------------------------------------------------------------

Squeekking around back driver tire

Hello; The wear indicator on the brake pad may be contacting the rotor and making the noise. You need to remove the left rear wheel and look at the thickness of the brake pad. Thank you

How do you put front brake pads on cadillac sedan deville 1996

Front brakes on all modern cars are disc brakes. The front brakes generally provide 80% of the stopping power, and so tend to wear faster than the rear. Replacing them - pads, rotors and calipers - is quite simple once you understand the process, and can save you a great deal of money. These instructions will include a full front brake replacement. Also, having a service manual for your vehicle will save your sanity, as well as time and money. If you only need pads, or pads and rotors, but not calipers, skip the steps for replacing calipers. Repeat the steps below for each side of the car as necessary.

Scrapping noises as i am driving and when i turn the corner the sound gets lower

Sounds to me that the brake pads could be the issue. They have a small metal stand that scrapes on the brake drums when it is time to change them. If it is the brakes and you continue to drive with them in that condition, they could cut into your rotors causing more damage. To check, remove the front tire and inspect the brake drum, it should be smooth surfaced with no grooves. You should also be able to inspect the pads themselves. With the tire removed, insert your head to the back of the rotor assembly. There should be an area where you can see the thickness of the brake pads and they should be 1/4 in or more if still in good condition. Otherwise I would replace them.

Pulsating breaks

Who else drives this car? Going fast and quick stopping, riding the brake will get the rotors very hot. When they are very hot and you stop and sit with your foot heavy on the brake this will squeeze the rotor at one spot, as hot metal under pressure will bend and distort. This will result in the problem you are having.

* All brake rotors have a discard dimension cast into them. Replace any rotor that does not meet this Specification. After refinishing the rotor, replace any rotor that does not meet the minimum or discard thickness specifications.
