I need to no how to add freon to my 1998 ford explorer and what type of freon does it take

Adding freon to a car requires connecting the low-side service valve first, followed by the high side, recovering the existing freon, evacuating the system of air and recharging the system with new freon.
You can use R-134a refrigerant for 1998 Ford Explorer. You can get all parts necessary for Ford Explorer at one place at http://www.carpartswarehouse.com/carparts/Ford/A-C_Condenser.html

My a/c needs charged. where is the port to hook up the 134a hose. The one by the right front headlight is too big for the coupler i have

The a/c refrigerant should be charged up using the low side port hose of the vehicle's a/c system, this hose is usually the bigger one which is the low side. never recharge the a/c system using the smaller port hose (the high side) because it can blow up your freon can and cause bodily injury. always wear eye goggles for protection when installing freon.

1995 ford taurus how do I charge freon myself and

mcdevito75 here, I have a 96" and yes you can charge the A/C yourself and you can use the 134A, the Charge port is on 1 of the metal lines comming out the firewall mine is on the metal line just about 6--7 inches from the firewall, the kit you buy for recharge will only fit this low side port, also follow the cans directions very carefully. there may be a screw down cap on this port simply unscrew this cap, port will look similar to the air valve on your tires.

My husband is putting 134a in my air conditioning unit. can you give instructions

Recharge the system through the low side fitting, with the engine running you will need to have 25-30 psi on the low side gage, add freon a little at a time until this pressure is reached with the engine running and the compressor engaged.

Is your car a Focus or a Taurus? If it's a Focus the low side fitting is on the accumulator inside the passenger right front fenderwell under the car. If it's a Taurus It is near the firewall on the right side.I hope this helps.

1999 FORD TAURUS EVAP SERVICE PORT

The AC charge port is the on low pressure AC line (large line from compressor) near the firewall. Take care not to overcharge, there are other causes of no cooling like a stuck AC compressor cycling switch or a air temp control blend door motor malfunction, what is the issue u have? does the AC compressor run?

go to auto zone and buy a 134 recharge kit follow the directions on the box, you will need to find to LOW side service port there are two ports with plastic caps on the ac lines you are looking for the one that is attached to a larger diameter ac line. the kit will ONLY FIT ON THIS FITTING so you dont have to worry, there is a label under the hood somewhere thats green and says how much 134a you should install be carefull wear safety googles and good luck, please rate -jeff
