Hood sensor switch. unplug it. done. won't make any difference to the operation of the alarm if its unplugged, it's just not in the alarm system anymore to cause a faulty alarm sound.

think about it though. car alarms are useless. so it goes off...big deal, whaddya going to do, shoot the guy breaking in. he's already armed. call the police? oh, by the time they get there...he's long gone.

Why is my alarm going off intermittently after being locked for no reason throughout the night and day?

Could be a drop in voltage. Alarms sense voltage change to trigger. When you open a door or cause any component to draw voltage while the alarm is activated it will trigger. Apparently something is drawing voltage or causing it to drop while you car is sitting. your battery may be going bad and the voltage is dropping past the benchmark level of the alarm trigger and it is going off. It can happen if the battery is marginal and it gets very cold out or there is a short in a component causing voltage to change.

Sounds to me like you need a new ignition switch. Take the vehicle to a mechanic and have them further evaluate.

Motor car electrical fault

ok....the problem is the rear washer pipe has blown of in the tailgate where it connects to the motor,it happens when you operate the rear washer when it is frozen.the connection is fairly weak and cant cope with pressure build up.in both cases you need to remove the tailgate trim, reconect the pipe and dry out the catch as that has a micro switch in it that operates the warning light for tailgate open and the alarm.it is shorted out with water hence the false alarming and warning light on........if you pop the bonnet but dont open it that will stop alarm from arming as temp fix,but dont forget to shut it before you drive off .hope this helps, please rate this ,thx

Volvo s80 alarm

Have the codes read out for the vehicle. It is likely that the siren for the alarm is causing the false alarm. If the siren is bad, there will be a code set in the central electrical module. (CEM)
