Question about 2005 Kia Sorento

Open Question

A red indicator light has come on on my Kia car

I wonder if anyone can help me, I have just purchased a second hand Kia Carnival 7 seater diesel. A red indicator light has come on, on the dashboard. It hard to describe but it’s located directly under the “not wearing your seat belt light”. I have checked in the hand book (which is in French) and located the symbol, the translation is:
Seeing the level of deposit (diesel only)

Sediment LED lights if the level of water stored in the deposit is higher than normal level. Evacuate the water if the indicator lights. You may damage the motor driving with this light lit.

hope you can help!

    There should be a drain valve located under the fuel filter housing, open the valve and drain out the water that has accumulated in the base of the fuel filter housing. Does the light still stay on after draining the water?

    Dear Zaraki, thank you for responding so quickly, I have located the fuel filter and drained the fluid, however the red light is still on. What should I do next?

    If the light does not go off after running the engine for a few minutes, then you will need to remove the fuel filter and clean out the sediment trap and you should feplace the old filter with a new fuel filter. Carburetor cleaner in a apray can would be the easiest and fastest way to clean out the sediment trap, but be careful that it does not spray back into your eyes and I would suggest that you wear some sort of eye protection. There is most likely too much muck in the sediment trap and that is why the indicator light is still on. Diesel fuel is really mucky fuel and you should drain the water and muck off at least every 3,000 to 5,000 miles/4,800 to 8,000 km.

SOURCE: Fuel Filter location on a Petrol 2004 Kia Carnival

The fuel filter is located in the fuel tank, pump removal is required to replace. There is an inspection cover behind the front seats on the floor to gain access to the pump. stupid idea. but whats not stupid about kia.

Check your fuel filter. It may be clogged. If it is, you'll have no problem with starting and idling, since these require relatively little fuel flow, and even a clogged filter can usually flow enough for that. When you try and accelerate, the engine demands much more fuel, and a clogged filter may not be able to flow enough, which can shut the car down.

SOURCE: car turns over but wont start it is a kia sedona

the car will not start if the immo light is not lit. sometimes turning the key back and forth or removing it and locking then unlocking the car can sometimes remedy this.

Which colour wire to use to hook up a trailer for a Kia Carnival 2000,trailer leads are yellow, green,black,brown,red,white and blue(no connection). just want to know which lead goes to which in the Kia?...

Hi there,

Here is a cheat sheet I compiled that you will find very helpful:

Plug Types/Application
7 Way - RV Trailers, Horse and Utility Trailers
6 Way - Horse, Stock and Utility
4 Way - Utility Trailers

Columns are Color, Function, Mark on the plug.

Seven wire Trailer plugs
:

Horse, stock or utility trailers:
White = Ground - 1
Blue = Electric Brakes - 2
Brown = Tail and clearance lights - 3
Black = Battery, aux power - 4
Yellow = Left turn/Brake - 5
Green = Right turn Brake - 6
Orange or Purple (not both) = Auxilliary or Reverse - 7

Recreational Vehicle:
White = Ground - 1
Blue = Electric Brakes - 2
Green = Tail and clearance lights - 3
Black = Battery, aux power - 4
Red = Left turn/Brake - 5
Brown = Right turn Brake - 6
Yellow = Auxilliary or Reverse - 7

Six wire trailer plugs:

Horse, stock or utility trailers:
White = Ground - GD
Yellow = Left turn/Brake -LT
Green = Right turn Brake -RT
Brown = Tail and clearance lights - TM
Red or Black (not both) = Battery, aux power - A
Blue = Electric Brakes - S

Recreational Vehicle: (color, use, plug mark)
White = Ground - GD
Yellow = Not used -
Brown = Right turn Brake - RT
Green = Tail and clearance lights -TM
Black = Battery, aux power - A
Red = Left turn/Brake - LT
Blue = Electric Brakes - S

Four wire plugs:
White = Ground
Yellow = Left turn/Brake
Green = Right turn Brake
Brown = Tail and clearance lights

Ground should be 10ga.
Others 14 ga

Best regards
Mike
