As it has many, many toys it is very, very high, trust me, buy the most basic car you can get,the less toys the less it will cost you in the long run, but, get the biggest mother of an engine, you have to have some fun right.....

Replacement brake pads for 06 Lexus GS 300?

go with standard pads.they wear a little faster than ceramics.but they dont wear down brake rotors.ceramics pads are hard and they cause brakes to squeak.also your car is under warranty with lexus dealership.i would use what they said. because you have future brake problem. they will void out warranty for not using their brakes.

Intermitent electrical shut off

Asked a local independent Toyota/Lexus repair shop.

He suggested checking battery cables at both ends to assure tight fit.

Positive cable was ever so slightly loose.

Tightened all cables. Will see if that solves problem.

1996 ES300 needs approximately $3300 in work...keep it?

I would buy your car, Those prices are from the Lexus Dealership that are pretty much charging you the LEXUS name. 1 Option would be is to go to a "Toyota" dealership & I bet the repairs would be at least 25% off of that was quoted to you. Those repairs aren't that tough for a mechanic. I bet if get a couple qoutes from different mechanics, you can have those engine repairs done for $500 MAX, & that is on the high end. As for Tires, I just went to Walmart & bought a brand new set for $290, these 80,000 mile GOODYEAR VIVA 2, along w/ lifetime balance & warranty for all 4 tires. I have 198k on my 99ES300 & drives like I just drove it off the lot.

Looking for this part from Panasonic CD or DVD player: PPN13KA12C

Is your Lexus 2/3 generation Navigation system not working? Famous 'No disk detected' message?
I was lucky a month ago and got a used one motor. Repaired my DVD and the GPS works fine. Then I wanted to buy couple more motors in case my wife's Navi goes bad and to have some spare ones. I bet I was searching under both PPN13KA12C and PPN-13KA12C (proper designation) for over a month every day, couple of times a day, and nothing, until today. Google PPN-13KA12C and go to SMC Electronics - CD and DVD Repair Parts to buy them for $6.50 plus shipping. Hurry, they won't last.

Lexus RX 300 Yr model 2005 - Service Maintenance Tips

Hello Ben,
Service intervals in North America are oil changes at 8000 km, schedule maint with cabin filters and air intake filters, tire rotation and brake inspection, at 16,000km intervals.Given where you are located under extreme heat you could advance the intervals by 20% early.
If you have your manual package this will be detailed inside. Toyota developed a high grade oil filter years ago with exceptional filtration. If you decide to use aftermarket filters change oil around 5,000 km instead. Don't touch electronics until the vehicle indicates and issue. Trans fluid around 72,000 should be fine.
All these should be outlined in your manuals and in theh warranty cover booklet as well.
You have chosen and EXCELLENT vehicle

1999 Lexus - ES 300 - STalling Problem

First of all, change the Lexus Dealership who is doing your rigid maintenance because they are ripping you off and not doing the work or careless on the way out of your engine compartment.
At 95k, you should have changed out your timing belt, replace all the sparkplugs, cleaned out the throttle body, cleaned the MAF sensors, replace the O2 sensors, inspected and replace the fuel rails, and the spark distribution units and you should not be getting a simple problem as this.
All this said, open you hood and look for a vacuum hose that is disconnected.  Most of the hoses which will cause this type of problem is located around the air filter box or connected to that side of the engine.

Buying 2001 RX300 65,000 miles extra clean

If you aren't mechanical, have someone who is check the car out. Specifically, the transmission fluid for color and smell (On toyota's they are to be changed every 30K miles, few drivers do this), and pull the spark plugs to see if they all appear relatively clean (a burnt looking plug indicates an engine problem). Ask to see the maintenance records. Oil should be changed every 3-4,000 miles if regular oil, 8-10,000 if synthetic.

The next BIG thing regarding maintenance is timing belt and water pump at 90,000 miles. Expect 500-700 for this, not at the lexus dealer. Probably double at the lexus dealer.

I would be interested under 12,000. Very interested under 10,000.

FYI, I'm driving a 95 ES300 with 170,000 miles and it runs like a top. These cars require very little in the way of repair if they are maintained. My goal is 300,000 just to see if it can be done. Unfortunately, I drive a total of 1,000 miles a month these days. So it will be a while. On the interior, you can have very nice new leather seats installed if the rest of the interior is in reasonable shape. Cost around $1,000 or a little less.

Good luck!!
