Havent started the work yet but this will really help. Last person(who was a dealership)of course gave me the typical canned answer. TAKE IT TO THE DEALERSHIP.

dude your the man. I really appreciate the help. I lost my job and have been doing everything myself(as much as i can) ive saved thousands of dollars in the past year because I cant afford what the shops wanted to do all the repairs so I was forced to do a lot of the work myself. Its insane what a rip off the dealers are. Ive actually become a pretty good DIYer and have fixed things that in the past thought was impossible. Thanks again for your help man. Your a life savor. My email is david_raine@hotmail.com. Do you know how to get the front speed sensors off. i have removed the clips but am scared to try and force anything. My ABS and traction control lights stay on so im going to try and clean them then unhook the battery and see what happens. I just put new brakes(loaded) on all 4 wheels. I think the lights started coming on after i did my brakes so im hoping that they are just dirty. i was told that sometimes if you clean them then the warning lights will go off. thanks again for your help. Send me any vehicle schematics you have for a 2001 lincoln ls. I'l try to return the favor one day if i'm able.

    Best Regards,

    David Raine

Are those bars what are keeping the sunroof from going back and cant I put them back in myself. Im a pretty good DIYer that has done most of my repairs myself. I dont trust the dealer. I asked them today out of curiousity how much it would cost to replace my upper control arms and they told me $1100. I about laughed in his face. I can get the parts online from ford for $200. I dont think it takes 9 hours to replace to contol arms.

It takes allot of training to do this repair and a factory service manual, I am a dealer technician and have never fixed any car from a problem it didn't have, been doing this 35 years, suggest you re-evaluate your opinion, u are going to need a dealer to take this apart, it is a very labor intensive job, I have have spend up to 8 hours doing this type of job, so yes it is very expensive..

  • david_raine Jun 02, 2010

Are you talking about the sunroof or control arms that is labor intensive? How much would it cost me to get the sunroof fixed at the dealer approx?

I will bet u end up at the dealer on this, but wish u good luck, just didn't think the trust thing with the dealer was a fair statement, all the dealer i worked at where very honest folks.. good luck.

I have a 2001 lincoln ls v8 my sunroof will slide back but when you close it it will close but it wont raise up to close all the way can someone help and tell me how to fix it

Start by making the tracks slicker with parafin, bees wax or graphite. If the motor is weak, you can run a larger positive wire going to the motor. If those don't work, you may have to replace the motor.

Battery is dead and cant get the trunk unlocked on my 2003 lincoln ls

You could raise the car up

Put your small battery chargers red clip,
very carefully on the big cable, on the starter solenoid stud

Black clip to any metal ground, engine bock
casting rib,bracket etc

Then plug in charger and try your key FOB after
about 5 or 10 mins,to open trunk and doors

remove the trim cover over the drive motor and test the motor connector for power when u try to operate the sun roof, more than likely the sun roof motor is defective.

05' lincoln navigator sunroof won't open and motor makes noise but nothing happens?

The motor is stripped out. The sun roof might be binding on the sun roof track and the motor is not strong enough to move the roof. I would first replace the sun roof motor if available seperately.
You mihgt have to get the complete assembly because of part availability

On your LS.
The CODE P1406,

Ok.. Is just the definition for your code.
The DPFEGR.. is a Little BOX. Black Colour.

Is Normally connected to the EGR tube coming from the EXUAST MANIFOLD. with 2 small hoses.
Inspect the Hoses for broken, burn or stuck with carbon.
if you DON'T found nothing wrong.
Replace the DPFEGR. You van get from DEALER.

1993 lincoln towncar sunroof switch

I know this is an old blog but some people may still find it helpful. There are 4 wires in the roof window switch hooked up to 2 smaller harnesses that have 2 wires each.

Remove the switch and use only the metal contacts in the harnesses. One should use a light tester to confirm which one is the ground and live. this is how it turned out for my car.

One harness has a light blue wire with a black stripe, and a black wire. the blue one is live, the black one is ground.

The other harness has a red wire and a darker blue wire (silly ford) these are the motor connect and return wires.

You must hook up thhooked to (example, if the live wire was connected to blue motor wire and the ground wire was connected to red motor wire and it opened it, that would mean you would want to put the live wire to the red motor wire and the ground wire to the blue motor wire)

When doing these wire connections, it is advised that you have the ignition turned off. Once you make all the connections properly, you can turn on the ignition and if done correctly, the roof window will move. Once it is closed, remove the wires frome the harnesses and LEAVE THE ROOF WINDOW ALONE UNTIL YOU HAVE A NEW SWITCH.
e power (Live, light blue) wire to a motor wire. You must then run another wire from the other motor wire. To complete this circuit there is only one place that this last wire can go and it is to the ground. once this is connected the roof should either open more or close.

To reverse the operation of the roof, simply reverse the position of the live and ground wires in respect to which motor wires they are
