Question about 2003 Chevrolet S-10

2 Answers

Rear end shakes from side to side at approximate 65 miles per hour. Sometime it shakes harder than other times depending on the orad surface. Tires have been replaced and wheels checked for being bent. Rear axles have been replaced because I was told they were bent. This did not help. Mechanics state the ujoints are good. The rear brake shoes and drums were replace before I noticed the problem.

If it has rear drive shafts then I would think the drive lines are out of phase. If thats not the problem if it has struts in the rear then you may have broken strut bushings. If this is not he problem then I would check the outer wheel bearings for wear but if it does it from side to side then I would suspect the rotors are bad or if it has drum brakes on it s then the drums are worn out. Let me know if this helped if not I will need more information to help you solve the problem so in that case reply to this message and I will give you more things to check all of this can be tested without costing you money. Thanks for using fix-ya.

If it ha rear drum brakes it's possible the put the primary shoe on the secondary slot or reversed them. This would be a issue unless it did it before the brakes were replaced if it did it befor then the other problems would be the problems.

Steering wheel and tire issue

Have a front end suspension check done to eliminate any worm ball joints -shockies- worn suspension rubbers-- steering problems. If ok have a wheel alignment done and have the rear end aligned first as it affects the front alignment. The violent wobble is castor wobble and indicates negative castor possible from sagging suspension springs. The camber is out at that results in the car following every dip in the road. The camber has to work in conjunction with the toe-in measurement and if the 2 are not correct then you will have problems.

Wheels out of balance, wheels out of aligment, front end wear ... tire beIt separation ... I think you should start simple ... tires properly inflated? Have the balance checked. If out of balance, who ever checked it can fix it. The same mechanic can check to see if the belts are ok.

When your car is parked for a while ... like when you are at work ... tires get a 'flat spot' where they sit on the pavement. It takes a mile or so for the flatness to go away ... that coule be a part of the problem.

I hope this helps you ... thanks for using FixYa.com

2000 jeep gc laredo 4x4 4.7 auto The front end shakes

if it shakes over 50 miles per hour, it could be your front tires need balancing. and check your ball joints while you are at it. or king pins if it has that. (they are different from ball joints but serve the same purpose.)
