2003 Dodge Grand Caravan air vent

On my 2003 Dodge Grand Caravan, with a 3.3L engine, when I turn on the air, nothing comes out of the upper air vent, just the floor or the defrost.

Need to pull cover off air duct area where the ducts meet. Maybe one of the doors to change air direction is not working. If you have electric controls that is. there will be small motors or vacuum driven doors. If they are working then the switch itself may not be working and will need replacing.

Would I have to remove the top dash to get to where the actuator for the vent door is?

  • Darrell Sorenson Jun 03, 2010

No you should be able to remove the cover under the dash on the firewall. Some vans are hard to get at so you will need to work your way to the source, may need to remove the glove box door at least.

Turned off the heat and turned it over to cool air from the upper vents and passenger side was nothing but heat

The dual zone climate control may be out of sync, it is a common issue. The dealer can re-sync the system. It can also be due to a failed temperature control blend door or blend door actuator.

I have a 2003 dodge caravan and the front air blows cold but the rear vents are blowing hot air what could the problem the fans are both working fine

The problem may just be with the evaporator unit found at the passenger cabin. At times you may just need some cleaning to get it working.

I was working for a company that used 1995 Caravan's for their sales force and I do not know of any sensor. I am confused by the term "cover".

Do you mean valve cover? If so does the sensor go somewhere? I can solve your problem, but I need move info. Please call or email me.

Either, way let me know the outcome. Your feed back is my only reward. Also, please rank my answer with as many thumbs as you think I should get.

Dodge 2002 Grand Caravan V6 3.3 engine overheating/no cabin heat.

Replace the bad radiator hose first.  Second- get you special formulated anti-freeze dye from the auto store and pour it into the radiator.  Third- make sure you got all the air pockets out of your system, cause the coolant system won't work with air pockets in it.  Fourth- Check for leaks by looking for the colored dye.  If it's not the radiator hose, then could possibly be a pin hole in your radiator.  Would suggest replacing all the radiator hoses at the same time while you got the coolant system disconnected, cause you don't want to have to come back and replace another hose in a few months.

There is a recall that has something to do with the air/heat system in 2005 Dodge Grand caravans. Recall F01. Here is a link. I had mine done two weeks ago, cost me nothing. My air conditioner was overheating.
