loosen the bolt that is holding the adjuster of the alternator. loosen the belt by pulling it and the alternator would slide in. remove and replace the belt.

do the reverse on installation.

remember to tighten all bolts of the adjuster and alternator after tightening the belt.

There should be a tension pullie that you put a wrench on and turn it and the pullie will kind of fold back on a spring so you can remove the belt

SOURCE: changing the alternator belt on 96 toyota corrolla

Loosen the alternator mounting bolt, then loosen the alternator tensioner bolt - the head faces forward, under the alternator. Keep loosening the tensioner bolt until the belt is loose on the pulley. It takes a lot of turning. Do not use force on the pulley!

SOURCE: belt diagram 1997 toyota corolla? alternator belt

The 97 Corolla has three accessory belts. The alternator belt is the one you see when you look down on the passenger side standing near the front of the engine compartment. If fits over the alternator and the engine pulley. The belt beneath it is the a/c belt (if the car has a/c). It fits over the engine pulley and the a/c compressor. The power steering belt is toward the rear of the engine compartment, on the same side. It fits around the engine pulley and the power steering pump.

Replacing the alternator belt is not too difficult. Standing in front of the car and facing towards the rear, loosen the locking bolt under the right side of the alternator. Then loosen the alternator hinge bolt on top of the alternator. Now you are ready to loosen the alternator belt tensioner adjustment bolt, accessed under the alternator from the front. Turn the tensioner until the old belt is loose enough to remove, then turn it further so that the new belt will go on easily. Replace the belt and re-tension until you have about 1/4 in. to 1/8 in. of play in the belt, tighten the lock bolt and the hinge bolt, and run the engine. If the belt squeals it means you need more tension, but do not overtension. Recheck it after a few days.

Should my husband and I attempt to replace the serpentine belt on a 2003 Toyota Corolla or take it to a auto shop?

the routing for the belt should be on a sticker under the hood, it is not complicated, you need a few common hand tools, you release the belt tentionser, remove old belt and install new one

I need to remove the engine belts

The A/C and alternator are easy enough. They both have bolts that hold them in place/adjust the belt tension. Loosen these bolts and shift your alternator and A/C compressor to free the belts. The timing belt? It requires removing the valve cove.

I need a diagram of how to remove my fan belt on a 92 corolla as i don't have a manual for it yet.

I have a 1991 and if it is the same you loosen the 2 ten millimeter bolts on the alternator, and the unit will move towards the engine, then just remove the belt, to tighten reverse the prcedure and then pry aaint the alternator to apply tension on the belt, about 3/4 of an inch in deflection is a rule of thumb.

Alternator belt

Hi, there is a funky looking belt on the side of the alternator. It's different from the other bolts in the area. This is the lock bolt for the tensioner. Loosen this bolt and you'll see a long bolt that is threaded all the way. Turn this bolt clockwise, this will tighten the belt. Counter-clockwise will loosen it. The lock bolt that you're looking for is on the same side of the belt.
