Have someone Start it and You Put your Have Close to your Rear Exhaust Pipe See if you can Fill a Good Flow of Air Coming Out. If you Can the Chances are it may not be Exhast or Converter. I would Run Another Scan, Or Most Auto Part Stores Scan you For Free I know Autozone Does. Let them Scan and See if it Picks up and Faulty Sensors.Whens the last time you Change Your Fuel Filter? And Check Engine Compression. And Make Sure You Engine Has;nt Jumped Time.I would Start with the Scan, Have them clear any Code and see if it Comes Back on Another Scan. Check Firing Order .Distributor Cap & Rotor. And Make Sure that your Enging is At the Compression Stroke on you Number ! Cylinder And tYour Rotor is Pointing to Or Close to Your #1 Spark Plug Wire on your Distributor Cap. Hope I've Given You Some Help, Please Let Me Know By Voting on my Quality of Solutions. What is fault code po403 on my grand cherokee

Code 403 is a problem with the EGR valve.
You'll need to get the flow chart to run the tests for that code to find the problem. I would suggest a shop manual.

I have a 96 jeep grand cherokee with a 4.0 It runs fine but then dies at random and wont start again until it sits for a while. Like i say it dies totally at random. Im thinking a sensor, anyone have

First I suggest scanned the fault codes stored there; turn the ignition key (without start engine) "on/off on/off on" and read odometer codes Pxxxx. Note this codes and send us for other details.

Keep in touch.

A 2002 jeep cheroke will start but wont stay running at idle speed

Two things I would check is how dirty the throttle body is and the egr valve. When the truck is idling the throttle body is barely cracked open and a ton of dirt on the butterfly can block some air from getting in causing it not to idle. just google cleaning throttle body. I would also check with the dealer and see if your jeep has an egr valve, Im sure it needs to be replaced and would cause the Jeep not to idle correctly.

What does the code 43 mean on a 1996 jeep grand cherokee and how do u fix it?

Trouble code P0043 means: HO2S Heater Control Circuit Low (Bank 1, Sensor 3)Hex code 43 is for a misfire.

DTC 43 indicates a cylinder misfire, but does not specify which cylinder is misfiring. To pinpoint which cylinder is misfiring, you need a scan tool and get the "P" code, as you can see in the chart below. So it is quite possible you're barking up the wrong tree.

If you go to an Autozone they will scan the codes for you, if the CEL is currently on, and tell you the DTCs they find. That will get you closer to the problem.
I'm fairly confident that if you do a complete tune-up, spark plugs, spark plug wires, distributor cap and rotor, that the misfire codes will be taken care of. Be sure you read this, Dodge Ram 1500 Running Rough before replacing the spark plug wires, or if you have already replaced them.

Hope this help (remember comment and rated this)..

I have a 1996 Jeep Grand Cherokee 6cyl, 4.0 ltr, 2 wheel drive... I will be driving on a street or Highway at any given time it will shut off with no warning sometimes it will start back up and sometimes...

43 is a cylinder mis-fire code. (may or not be related )
Random shutdown is usually associated with either a crank position sensor or fuel pump failure. Taking into account the code you have, I'd tend to think it's more likely to be the cps. But... the coil should be checked and all wiring as well (for loose or corroded connections) Bad connection inside ignition switch can do this as well.
Parts are not cheap and therefore diagnostic mistakes are also costly. I suggest you follow test procedures outlined in most inexpensive manuals such as chiltons or haynes, before buying anything,
Random shutdowns are difficult to diagnose even for shops, as most times if it's running when tested, everything is usually going to check out as good. Don't get discouraged though. You eventually will figure it out.

2005 jeep grand cherokee limited 5.7 hemi vehicles hesitates

The egr valve is located on the front of the right cylinder head. It has a tube attached to it and going to the intake manifold. It has failed and is why your jeep is running rough and hesitating. Replace it and it will fix your driveabllity issues. Disconnect the battery for 2 min to clear the code.

1997 jeep grand cherokee runs rich after long trips

Could have a bad map sensor. The Map sensor is located on the throttle body. I have seen countless Jepp that start blowing black smoke when they go bad. That would be a good starting place.
