Black smoke = way rich (getting to much gas) u didnt state wether it carb or fuel injected assuming with the year of car it fuel injected if so more than likely bad pressure regulator

My 1985 vette starts up cold good and no smoke but after warm up it don't want to crank when it does it has black gray smoke for a min what's wrong

not starting when it gets warm could be a starter problem, the amp draw is probably to high for the battery to supply enough power to start. starter draw should be around 150-200 amps. the black gray smoke is too much fuel that isn`t being burnt. if the starter draw is too high then there isn`t enough voltage for the ignition system to fire the plugs properly causing the smoke.

Cold start smooth, when warms up very rough with rich black smoke

Your will need a road test with a professional scan tool
& record & look at data

IF ---you never do any Preventative Maintenance & few folks
do,anything at all, then problems are coming your way

Flashing MIL Lamp-- is a Class A-- Exhaust Converter Ruining
Cylinder Misfire

Runs Rough,Black Smoke --BUT--you keep using it & only
now, think maybe something is wrong !!

That car has lots wrong, that needs work, way too much to
write a book on it here, for you

Your Fuel Trim must be sky high

No fuel control & lots of misfire counts

The 14 years from 1997 to now, the converter is worn out,
but you have lots to do before replacing that

Starts good cold, because your in open loop & the fuel is
controlled by the PCM

Once it warms up & goes into closed loop, you have no
fuel control

VW Passat 05. 01-05 shape. When I start it first thing in morning I get blue smoke, covers driveway, but only lasts about 2minutes and no smoke then or while driving. For that two minutes car also shudders...

You have bad valve seals. Blue smoke is oil burning. White is water/coolant, black is to much fuel. If the car runs good after the smoke, then it isn't a head job. I recommend you get a manual. It is exitensive work,, but follow the manual and you can do it.

Black smoke and 'juddering' when stationary.

YOU HAVE RICH MIXTURE. CHECK FOR YOUR TEMPERATURE SENSOR WHICH I BELIEVE IS NOT SENDING THE CORRECT MESSAGE TOY PCM AND STILL WORKING ON COLD START.

Black smoke coming from tail pipe when starting.(1998 saturn sc2 1.9l DOHC)

You say when starting, I presume you mean when the engine is cold? Black smoke is usually a sign that the engine is burning too much fuel but when it's cold this quite normal as the choke richens the fuel/air mixture to start the cold engine.
If it's still smokey when warm then it could be numerous things from a dirty air filter to a faulty cold air sensor giving the ecu a false reading. I would have the car serviced & if no improvement then leave it into a garage with diagnostics & they should be able to where the fault lies.

I hav 96 toyota cavalier auto,it shuddered and

I don't know if it would cause the shaking and vibrations, but for the smoke it could be loose nuts or broken studs on the exhaust manifold -- when engine is cold check each of the nuts (there should be 8) to see if they are loose or missing/broken; you may have to remove a heat-shield in order to gain access
