How do I get to my fuel pump on my 1997 cadillac

My cadillac is giving me incorrect info about the gallons left in the tank and the mileage it will travel. Now it will not start. I can not hear the fuel pump when I turn the key. I was wondering if the problem could be anything else besides the fuel pump and if so what? If it is the fuel pump how do I get to the fuel pump? Thank you so much

It could be the fuel pump relay or fuse, most likely it's the fuel pump. Here is a link to some information on getting the gas tank out to replace the pump:
http://www.autozone.com/autozone/repairinfo/repairguide/repairGuideContent.jsp?chapterTitle=Fuel+Tank&partName=Fuel+System&pageId=0900c1528025eda5&partId=0900c1528025ed91
The pump runs about $250.00.

Why does my 2006 HHR get 10.5 mpg?

You could try the old fashioned way of checking your mileage. Start with a full tank of fuel. Make a note of the total mileage on the vehicle. Drive the vehicle normally normally until the low fuel light comes on. Refill the tank to full and write down how many litres/gallons you put in. Next check your total mileage display again and write that down as well. From those numbers you can work out you fuel consumption.
Subtract you first mileage number from the current mileage number to get your total miles driven. Then it's Miles driven divided by gallons of fuel used.
As most European pumps measure in litres you'll need to divide the total litres you used by the number of litres to the gallon. Then you can divide the mileage done by that number.
*Note* The American gallon is smaller than the UK 'Imperial' gallon so make sure you use the correct one.
[ UK = 4.55 litres to the gallon (Imperial)].
[ USA = 3.78 litres to the gallon].

Gas meter does not give the correct info

If the meter is wavering there is a faulty sensor inside the tank itself, otherwise it can be the meter itself that is faulty and also a connector or cable is broken or corroded. Please be warned! working on the tank is extreamly dangerous, no ESD, no tools and cigarettes aso... is permitted around the fueltank. Usually the sensor is a printed pcb board like a potentiometer kind a variable resistor with an arm connected to a floatation ball inside a steel tube and beneath it sits usually the first fuelpump that supplies the master pump with fuel, due to the fact that the master pump isn't capable to draw fuel from the tank only to build pressure from it to the engine.
Anyway the arm on the pcb is mounted with a clamp and this is where it's usually faults it glides apart and the tension against the pcb isn't constant wich makes the meter show incorrect values.

Gas meter does not give correct info

If your shocks are bad or low this will cause the gas tank to be unlevel or untrue. You may also have a defective float in the tank. I own a caddi, so I know. What kind of highway mileage do you get? I get 32 mpg.

What is the tank size for the 1500 ,trying to get fuel milege on truck .

To determine fuel mileage, you don't need to know the tank size. Fill the tank and write down the odometer reading. Drive a few days, then fill it again. Write down how many gallons it took to do that.
(gallons are right on the pump at the station). Subtract the miles you first wrote down from the reading when you filled it the second time. That's how many miles you drove. Divide that number by the gallons you used and that tells you how many gallons it took per mile. So, if you drove 100miles and used 10 gallons, your mpg is 10.
The capacity of the tank is not how many gallons you can use before you run out of fuel. All tanks have a space below the fuel pickup that contains one to three gallons of fuel you can't use. So, if planning a trip etc, figure your "range" on how many gallons it takes to fill it up from a pre-determined low reading on the gauge. ignoring the actual capacity.
One tip: it's good practice to never permit any vehicle with an electric pump go much below 1/4 tank. The pump is cooled by the fuel in there and running low will cause it to run hot and shorten it's life.

How many miles do u get for a full tank of gas on a v8

It just depends on your tank size. You probably get about 15 -18 miles per gallon. 13 gallon tank would be around 200 miles. 15 gallon tank around 232 miles.

The display reads 14 mpg how can is be in proved?

You cannot rely on these mileage displays. To know for sure fill the fuel tank up and write down the mileage on the vehicle at that time. Drive the car until you have 1/4 fuel in the tank. Fill the tank and note the amount of fuel it took to fill it up. Divide the gallons necessary to fill it up into the miles driven since the last fill up. You now know the mpg the car got. Example: You drove 300 miles and the car used 16 gallons of fuel. 300 divided by 16 equals 18.75 mpg.

My 96 esteem doesnt give much mileage when petrol is less than 10litres

May be a bad pump, but do you mean gas mileage?
If it doesn't getvery good mpg when the fuel in the tank is less than 10 litres, or 2.5 Gallons, then I would also check and replace the filter if necessary.
