One of my customers had the same problem. I sprayed all the bushings with WD-40 and the noise went away. The rubber bushings have metal sleeves inside them that bolts go thru, over time, rust will build up and you'll get a squeak. The newer cars have alot of bushings on them.

How do I open the hood?

Without a specific model listed...
1. Pull the hood release lever which is typically located on the driver's side floorboard, left of the brake pedal. To the left of where your left foot would rest in the car.2. You will see the hood "release" but still have another latch.3. Peak in under the middle of the hood and you will see another lever under the hood (at the front of the car). 4. Reach in and press that lever up or to it's side. You may have to push the hood down a little bit to allow it to release.
So, you will have 2 levers you are activating to open the hood. The one from the driver's seat and the one from the front of the car.

I have an intermittent noise from under the hood when the car is in drive and moving. Noise stops when the car is stopped at the light or in park

I believe your carrs makes the noise when in motion. hence it is important to identify the place from where the noise is heard. if it is from the fron please use a jack and life up your car. check the rotation of the wheels,if noisy then check on the wheel bearings, brake linings, pads, discs. opne and confirm check the front suspension for damage to the links, the shock absorbers, the bushes that support the arms, and for any chassis damage that is scrapping against the tyres. Do the same for the rear side. Please also try to press down the car for any squeaking. locate the noise and change the part which could be as above. However is you think that the noise is coming from the gear box/ differencial, then it might pose a bigger problem, it could be low oil in your gear box, failure of the counter wheels, the gear drives or shafts. if is important to run the drive while in jack. I hope you get this helps. Good day. .

My front end on my 2001 s-type is squeaking like crazy but everything is tight on the drivers side front wheel.

Squeaking may be caused by bushings being dry..when that rubber gets dry, it has a nasty loud sound...the front end will appear tight, because nothing is loose..you can try and spray some WD-40 on your lower control arm bushings, and see if that helps...Goodluck

2004 Mazda tribute steering wheel squeaking

Well a steering flush would not necessarily be related to squeaking.

So, you need to locate exactly where the sound is coming from...
It really sounds like steering wheel turning and resistance causes the noise, is this constant, or only while actually turning the wheel?

Likely it would be semi constant, so that would focus you on the assist portion... Be careful around all moving parts, but you need to locate the source.

Try taking a section of heater hose, and listen through one end and move carefully around with the other end and see what you find. Likely something under the hood, with your note about window open...

Now, if the squeaking stops when the steering wheel stops turning, now steering components are suspect.... So, again, louder with window down makes me think outside and in front...I would stand in front of the car, have your handy assistant actuate the steering wheel, and you decide which side, right or left.... Suspect items that squeak only during steering wheel input include, amongst other things, the entire strut, all ball joint, including joints in the steering linkage.... Be sure to keep clear of moving parts, your handy assistant would not know they they are crushing you, while truning the wheel......

Struts were replaced but there is still squeaking in front

possible sway bar links, strut bearing plates (they sit on top of the strut), ball joints, tie rod ends. If the you can make it squeek by pushing up and down on the front, have someone do this while trying to narrow where the noise is coming from.

Front end Chevy cobalt loud squeak?!

If you have the time, take the vehicle to an autoshop of your choice, and ask them to grease all fittings on the front end. My car did the exact same thing, it was the ball joints. You may need a new ball joint, but being a 2009, I highly doubt it unless its been in an accident or something. There are grease fittings on the front, I believe there should be at least 5, maybe more, but the sound you are experiencing is the equivalant to a pogo stick if I'm correct. Hope that helps.
