Question about 1984 Honda Accord
Noise as you describe almost always involves bad bearings, especially in 5spd boxes. The second gear problem could be worn ring (syncro ring) and/or worn/damaged 1-2 sliding hub. If wear is excessive, it could also have damaged the teeth on the 2nd gear where the hub engages. Only way to know for sure what's going on is to remove, disassemble
