This could be a number of issues, I will give you some tips without seeing or hearing, You could consider changing the plugs and leads, Check vaccuum hoses haven't dislodged ar are cracked, it could even be as simple as cleaning/replacing the air filter. Hope one of these gets you sailing right, All the best.

check for vacuum leaks. You can do this with a can of carb spray but please be careful as it is flammable! if the ignition wires are leaking and you hit them with carb spray you will start the engine on fire!

The safer alternative is to have the engine "smoked" for vacuum leaks. This is done with a smoker. Any place that is leaking you will see smoke.

A trained ear will also be able to hear a leak.

If no leaks are found try unplugging the MAF sensor. Is is in the air tube next to the air filter box. If performance improves try cleaning it with some MAF sensor cleaner. If that doesn't work than you may need to replace it.

1998 jeep cherokee runs but dies at stoplight but starts back up doesn't do it often

I had the same thing happen to my Jeep Cherokee. For me the answer was that I had disconnected the air filter to work on the power steering pump and I forgot to reconnect it. When I did, the stalling at stoplights went away.

well you could try to get a vacuum gauge and see if your car reads what it supposed to and if you buy one it could tell you what it could be.

Go to the auto part store and buy a bottle of fuel injector cleaner. Fill up full gas tank with that one bottle.
