Check the condition of the tensioner and pulleys, a bearing may be bad in those items

Squeeling belt on take off is it hard to fix on daewoo nexia 15 glxi petrol manuel 1997

This is often only a slipping belt; try to rev the engine (jab the accelerator briefly) while standing to see if the squeal is present. If it is, it is a drive belt for either water pump, AC or other device. Check the belts for cracks; if they still look good, find the adjustment for belt tension and adjust accordingly.

I have a 1997 daewoo lanos1.5l single over head cam and broke the timing belt then the engine stalled so i replaced belt and set the timing marks. every thing was correct when set the crankshaft was top...

hi, just letting you know my timing belt just went on my daewoo lanos. unfortunately it seems in a daewoo lanos that when the timing belt goes, it can do damage to one of the valves. mine is in at the mechanics and i am still hoping that it hasnt done any damage. i was also told that if you have replaced the timing belt and the car still wont start it has definitely done damage to a valve. sorry to give you the bad news!!

Cam shaft timming marks 1999 Daewoo 1.6 liter

there is a special tool to hold gears in correct place on some of these models, but you can hold one cam at a time with a spanner then feed belt on exhaust cam then inlet cam gear
get someone to hold gears in place while you feed belt on.
the inlet cam is more prone to turn off mark more than exhaust.
if you have tensioner that needs retaining pin in when installing
you fit belt while aligning timming marks
fit tensioner as last spot to feed belt on with retaining pin in adjuster
get correct tension on belt by turning water pump so that you can flex (turn) belt 90 degrees only just while using finger and thumb
tighten water pump check flex
check all timing marks are correct
remove retaining pin from auto tensioner
turn motor over a couple of turns by hand observing tensioner arrow should hover around V mark and that all timing marks align up again(after one complete turn)

My timing belt in my 98 Daewoo Lanos snapped recently and the mechanic i took it to told me there was no need to check to see if there was any damage inside the engine because daewoo motors always drop...

yes they bend valves
head needs to come off and valves will need replacing
this can be repaired
timming belts on these should be replaced every 60,000km

Remove and replace timming belt on lanos sx 1598cc 1998 thank you

First remove head and fix the bent valves. I have worked at a Daewoo dealer. People would buy the belt and come right back to get valves and gaskets. Daewoo timing belts must be replaced every 60,000 miles.

Can i drive my lanos with suspect valve problem.

Are you sure your timing belt is on right? If you're out one tooth, it's gonna run like ****, and if it's not firing at all on one cyllinder, you're going to wash down the cyllinder walls (with gas while you're driving) and have engine failure. 400 K ? You might make it. Won't do your engine any good.
