I don't believe you can remove the bellhousing, you'll have to seperate the transmission case.

How do you change a clutch on a s10 chevy blazer?

1. remove the driveshaft.
2. remove the transmission.
3. remove the bellhousing
4. unbolt the pressure plate from the flywheel.
5. remove the clutch.
6. inspect the flywheel and pressure plate for scoring, checking, or other damage. repair/replace as needed.
7. place a clutch alignment tool into the clutch disk, insert it into the pilot bearing on the flywheel, and bolt the pressure plate back into place. Install a new throwout bearing on the clutch fork. remove the alignment tool.
8. install the bellhousing, connecting the clutch linkage.
9. replace the transmission and driveshaft.

I would *strongly* recommend buying a shop (service) manual which describes this process in greater detail. It is not rocket science, but it *is* a lot of work with many detailed steps that I glossed over above. If you are not certain that you are capable of this work, you need to take it to someone who is.

The transmission is heavy, you will need buy/rent/borrow a transmission jack to be able to safely get it in and out. Plus you need the proper ramps, wheel chocks, etc. to safely raise the truck enough to do all this, and you need a smooth, level surface to work on. A concrete garage floor is ideal, a driveway may be adequate if it does not slope much. Don't even attempt it on dirt or gravel.

My van won't shift gears properly.Mechanic did not think it was the transmission but gear slippage. Bought some Lucas to put in it but it didn't help.

well the gears are within the transmission, even if it is rear wheel drive (differential will not cause slippage) shifting issues can u describe in more detail-harsh engagment when cold? engine revs for a while (delayed engagment) before vehicle moves forward or upshifts. what colour does the fluid look like? does it smell burnt? when was the last time the trans was serviced? is the level correct? is the correct fluid being used for top up?is there any transmission dtc's or is the check engine light on? slipage occurs when the clutch packs are worn, glazed or contaminated-there is also the possiblity of lack of adequate hydraulic pressure which is generated from the front pump, there could also be an issue with the
valve body and or shift solenoids. so he could be correct with the gears being ok as there are more dynamics to the tranmission operation, pending of the transmissions path of power-planetary gear set it could be an intermidiate band not fully holding the forward drum....pending on path of power. anyways a
simple pressure test of main line pressure will help in determining tranmission overall condition cause if you have one internal fault trans requires removal and at that point it'll have to come apart at that point you may as well be doing a complete rebuild.

It should work for you as long as there both 4L60E transmission, but take not there were a few changes to the transmission case and everything internal are the same. The key distinction of the Later 4L60-E (1997-2006) from the Early 4L60-E (1992-1997) or 4L60 (1990-1992) or 700R4 (1982-1989) is the six-bolt "hex" rear output or tailhousing / adapter pattern. The previous versions featured a four-bolt square bolt pattern at the adapter or tailhousing. Additionally, the removeable bellhousing is also another distinguishing feature. The Late 4L60-E transmission has a three piece case of cast aluminum alloy; bellhousing, main case, and tailhousing. GM shortened the package to 21.9" long - equivalent to a manual transmission of 15.4". Good luck and you should not have any problems swapping out the transmission.

I have an automatic trans mission that doesnt go

The forward gears slip but dose the reversr gear slip as well if not your problem is either the forward band is worn out ,,,,or the forward pump is playing up and also it could be the thing that starts it all off is the filter in the auto sump is clogged up with metal or drive band dust is the colour of the auto oil dark or dirty..
When was the trans oil last changed.
