Question about Honda Accord

1 Answer

1992 Honda Accord 4dr, 5spd. Engine runs great, and the previous owner had a tune up performed on it. Car starts normally, but after warmup and shutdown, it will only crank, and not start. I checked the wire out of the coil and there is no spark while cranking. I tried a new Fuel Injection resistor, but still happens. Sometimes I can go a week withouh a problem starting it after warmup. It always starts after it cools down a little. Sometimes I hear a clinking noise similiar to the hot exhaust manifolds cooling down in the engine bay. That has me wondering if a relay is clicking over. But the clinking noise happens while the ignition is deenergized. This distributor has the extenal coil pack, with the ignition module inside the distributor. The engine never dies, once it is running. Which I think rules out the ignition module. I am thinking possibly of a relay?

I believe you are correct. I am on my second 1993 Honda Accord and the relay you are talking about is under the dash on the driver's side--Relay Assy. Main. My previous car did the same thing as yours. This is an easy fix for a do-it-yourselfer but tight area under dash.

Acura navigation code

all it takes is a dead battery and the world is lost.... sigh...
wow, first ever post here of a photo and for sure clear. wow.
you will go places fast,
yes , you lost the operator guide, (the PO did, im sure the dork)
so get one. never drive a car and for sure this hightech ones.
with no opr, guide. it has lots of very important facts for getting out
of trouble, and #1 is standardized. (IMMO failures? ouch)

the cars that have radio codes, and i presume nav unit.
the car came new with the code cars,
PO (previous owner ) lost it.
the guide says, write it down in the opr guide. i bet he didnt.
so the bad news. its here.
but good news its here (mostly....)
rats, the navigator system pages are missing.
as you can see the radio codes missing ploy is the same as NAV

solution, (only) (or licensed lock smith shops)

Hey guys, I am having a problem, I just got a 92 accord 4dr ex , the car starts and drives but it sounds like it is not going in to overdrive, it goes up to 4th and thats it , on the highway I got the car...

You have an older OBDI car. Take the car to a parts store and have them read the code. Not all stores carry the OBDI readers anymore so call first. You could have anything from a bad trans to bad speed sensors. The code will help.

Loczation of the main relay 1992 honda accord with a 5 spd.

Check under the hood, there is a cover that is labeled, pop off the cover to expose the relays, there are also some at the fuse block located under the dash on the driver side.

92 honda accord engine problem

You may have a vacuum leak at the intake. Spray some WD-40 along the intake while it's running. If the car's idle changes you have a vacuum leak there. Replace the intake gasket. Your IAC valve (Idle Air Control valve) could be acting up as well.
