Car window wont go all the way up

it sounds like the windows runners inside the door have either snapped off from the retaining brackets or they have just come loose. remove the door panel and check the runners are tight against the glass as the window goes down, look for the runner brackets to check they are still connected to the door, if they arnt then they need to be replaced. If all intact, then its just a case of adjusting them to hold the glass in place at the bottom when the window is open and also as it is wound up to the top, do this slowly so you can see where the glass is slipping out of the runners. Also check that the sliders and fixings on the winder mechanism on the bottom of the window are not broken or disconnected (the bit that pushes it up and down) as this is also sometimes a problem. Replace or repair.

Window will not roll up or down . trunk will not shut completely

Two problems are simular but not related. The power window the door panel can be removed, theres screws behind the door opener handle. and on the bottm edge of the panel , under plugs in the ends on the door closer armrest handle. once their all removed the panel needs to be lifted up and off its hooks theres wires connected to the switches in the panel and they can be picked unlocked and unplugged, Once the wires are off the motor is in plain veiw and it can be unbolted with 3 10MM headed screws with it off reconnect the switch and turn on the car and work the window with the swich if the gear turns good and you can't hold it back the window regulater has come off the window or it's broken the gear drive in the motor has a clutch and it can fail too. Removing the screw that holds the gear into the motor the gear can be lifted out. the clutch has three plastic roolers and they can break and or change to mush. They can be bought at an auto parts store. A new motor sometimes doesn't come with the clutch and the gear as your suposed to move them to the new motor. So if you end up needing a new gear make sure the new motor has all the parts that you need.

Changing the outside door handle on a 1997 Toyota Starlet

There is two bolts that hold the window slider thing in place. One just below one of the door handle nuts inside the door and the other is on the outside of the door (on the inside of the car). Once these are removed it enables you to move that mech out of the way to get to the other bolt.

I undone the 3 latch screws to give me a bit more movement in the rod that connects to the handle too.

This should give you enough room to get to that other nut and clip the rod into the handle once installed.

Once handle is installed simply just slide the window mech back up into position and bolt back in.

Broken door windows - deer ran into side of car

Hi:
You can get used door glass from an auto salvage yard, for not too much cash. They aren't hard to install, and your doors are already painted and match the car.

Drivers electric window suddenly fell down inside of door

thw window either came off the window slider or the slider bracket, this can be determined by removing the door panel. this could also be cable driven and the cable has disconnected or broke, can also be determined by removing door panel.

Our 2000 VW Jetta front left window just fell into the door. We took the door off and can see that a piece broke. We can get the door regulator but how do we fix it? We can't afford the $500.00 the service...

In the cold weather with the window slightly frozen I had a similar problem in my 2002 Jetta. The glass stuck at first and then fell into the door. Luckily nothing was broken with the glass, so after taking off the door panel I was able to raise the regulator half way then slide the window back into the bracket. I tightened the bolt on the bracket for good measure and haven't had a problem since.

Replacing window regulator

after the door panel is removed remove the 2 10mm bolts that hold the window to the regulator. then you will be able to slide the glass out of the door. once the glass is out of the door use a paint marker and trace around where the broken plastic peace is that you need to change. then remove and expoy the new in place

Volvo V70 Driver Door Hinge

Make sure the bolts for the slider are tight, the two on the door and the one on the body. If these are OK, then pull back the rubber boot on the body and if you see the metal is broken, then you need to have a body shop repair the broken spot welds. If the metal looks OK, then the door stay (slider) will need to be replaced.

Good Luck!
