If you just need to change the bulb, you can do the following.

1. Unclip the electric cables form the back of the light. Then twist the black bulb ring to the left (counter clockwise) and pull back. This should allow you to remove the bulb and change it.

2. Changing the whole light component is a little more difficult. On the left side i had to remove my battery. You will need some wrenches to undo the white positioning knobs. then you will be able to pull out the light. it isn't that easy...

1995 jetta headlights work on bright but not on dim. Fuses are good

Had this once...Check voltage at plug on dim side to see if you have power.
If so, check continuity thru head light.
(I had both headlight low beams burn out at the same time once.)
Ya might check your headlight relays are seated for good connection as well.

Headlight issues in 2004 Volkswagen Jetta

The problem is almost certainly only a bad connection at the back of the headlight unit. Have the 3 pin plug and terminals replaced...fit a new bulb, and check the earth connection and all should be well.
