Question about 2003 Chevrolet TrailBlazer
Hi- I've been told the vent actuator door is stuck on my 2003 Chevy trailblazer. No AC/Heat from front vent, but floor and defrost ok, as well as back seat vents still working. Apparently a common problem with this make/model. Any fixes? Trying to avoid going to dealer and pay $$ for simple fix. Mechanic wanted $600 to take apart dash, but I remember reading a more simple fix where dash could remain in place???? I'm not able to do work, but looking for some help in Baltimore area. Thx for any info.

THE CAM SHAFT ACTUATOR IS LOCATED IN THE CYLINDER HEAD ON THE FRONT RIGHT HAND SIDE JUST ABOVE THE POWER STEERING PUMP. AFTER YOU REMOVE THE ACTUATOR CHECK TO SEE IF ANY OF THE SCREENS ARE DAMAGED OR MISSING. IF SO REPLACE THE ACTUATOR. ALSO CHECK THE CRANKSHAFT END PLAY. IT SHOULD BE BETWEEN 0.0044" - 0.0153". if excessive crankshaft end play is causing this concern, it will be obviously out of specification by as much as.050" or more when a pry bar is used to move the crankshaft back and forth. IF THIS IS THE CASE AN ENGINE REPLACEMENT IS RECOMMENDED DUE TO THE AMOUNT OF DEBRIS IN THE ENGINE. IF NO EXCESSIVE CRANKSHAFT MOVEMENT NOTICED REPLACE THE CAM ACTUATOR. IT WILL ALSO BE NECESSARY TO DO AN OIL CHANGE.

THE HVAC B FUSE IS LOCATED IN THE FUSE BOX UNDER THE REAR SEAT. IT IS FUSE 36. CLEAR ANY CODES FIRST. REMOVE THE FUSE FOR 10 SECONDS, REINSTALL THE FUSE, START THE ENGINE, WAIT 40 SECONDS FOR THE ACTUATORS TO RECALIBRATE.

yes, if you vent is not working when adjusting direction control, the problems is behind the ac control unit, common problems with GM. you going to have to tear into the dash and see what linkage broken or came off, not hard to do on blazer if have some mechanical incline background and some tools, it not hard but time consuming. Or drive behind any dealership and ask any mechanics does he know any one does a side work, you be surprise, many shop have mechanics that does side job, saving you lots of money from shop cost. 35-40 buck to fix with out part.

Yes unless the rack has been broken also, most parts stores carry them. Just turn your key and see if it moves or not. The out side shell of a colloum is mainly for looks.

Lots of things can be called an actuator. Door lock Mirror adjust, overdrive, and 4 wheel drive to name just some. The door lock is the most common and it's held with one rivet near the bottom of the door and the new actuator will come with a new revit. With the door panel removed and you reached around and made sure that your on the right one drill or chisel out the old revit, pivit arond the actuator to get the wire unpluged, Look at the new one to see how it goes. unhook the lingage on an angle and slip in the new one. Not bad to do if your used to doing stuff with out watching your hands. ( sort of like under the covers at night ) Then you'll get it done fine. The other actuators you need to say whitch one, 4 wheel drive?
