In some cases yes, however if the pipe is rusted out they will have to weld to it and the only way they would do that is if there is no rust. Otherwise all pipe will need to be replaced.

Why is oil coming out of the exhaust pipe?

If your previous turbo had leaked oil into the exhaust system there would still be oil residue left in the system. (1) The catalytic converter/converters would need to be replaced if you have one plus any O2 sensors. (2) If your muffler/mufflers are a glass packed type, replace it with a new one. If muffler is a chamber type you can clean it with a solvent or replace your call. The muffler/mufflers are were most of the oil will be pooling. (3) Clean as much of the exhaust as you can with the solvent that you used to flush the mufflers with.

Muffler pipe rusted and broke clean in half, but actual muffler is new.

NEED TO TAKE VECHICLE TO MUFFLER SHOP LET THEM FIX RUST PIPE WITH A NEW PIPE.LET MUFFLER SHOP FIX BECAUSE THEY CAN WELD JOINT SEAL BOTH NEW EXHAUST PIPE AND NEW MUFFLER SO YOU WONT GET CARBON MONOXIDE POISON LET MUFFLER SHOP CHECK ALL THE EXHAUST SYSTEM BECAUSE THE WHOLE SYSTEM COULD BE RUSTED DROP DOWN WHILE DRIVING YOU PROBABLY NEED NEW EXHAUST PIPE HANGERS.

Hi,
We have that similar problem, thick black exhaust and too much revving.
Replace everything, tuned it up, but still that problem is there. Usually that was the problem of most Diesel Pajeros. Untill, we clean up the exhaust pipe and mufflers. Cleaning by means of using liquid sosa, detergent soap, and kerosene gas. Because diesel is a rich carbon emission fuel( oil ), mostly the carbon accumulated in the exhaust system and replacing the whole system is costly.
Just pull down the exhaust system, put the cleaning chemicals that I said, pour it in the exhaust pipe, block the end of the exhaust and pour water untill it fills up.Soaked it for a day and release it afterwards. You will see all the carbons that accumulated, fill it up again with fresh water so that your cleaning it up, untill no more carbon comes out!
Thats about it to get rid of that problem, either you replace the mufflers and buy a new ones or do this.
Thanks for asking FixYa!

Your exhaust system is subjected to all kinds of road debris and, depending on where you live, winter road salt. If the hole is in the pipe, a good muffler shop could cut out the bad area and weld in a fresh length of pipe. It it's the muffler, it's a simple muffler replacement. Unless the whole exhaust pipe is bad, don't pay for a whole new pipe. Whatever you decide to do, don't wait too long. The exhaust fuems you smell are only part of the problem. What yo can't smell is carbon monoxide, and it is deadly.

My car is failing enspections because of a leak near/at flex pipe area. im not sure if i should just get a patch or replace the whole exhaust

if it is at the flex pipe, it is difficult to just get a patch.....i would just replace that section of the pipe, or worst case scenario, get a whole new exahust, but get the exhaust shop to use your catalytic converter and muffler, if there are no problems with them, this will cost you heaps

Replacing the Exhaust Pipe

Why would you not go to the auto parts store, buy what you need, return home and install it yourself.

You must have lost your mind,if you think that a junk yard exhaust system is anything but rusted metal.

I can't see your exhaust system, but I do recommend that you have them show you the "why" of it. Generally the front pipe and the cat last a long time and generally don't need to be replaced very often. If the flanges are rusted and have failed there are "wrap around" replacements that can be used without pipe replacement. Most common is to change everything from the cat back. As I said, have them actually show you what is wrong...or take it to another shop and without telling them the original findings, have them look at it!!! Since there is very little involved except a visual inspection, most shops will not charge or will charge very little for this.
