Question about 1994 Jeep Grand Cherokee

2 Answers

What's the going price for transmission repair/replacement for 1994 Jeep Grand Cherokee automatic? Vehicle drives fine up to 25-30 mph, then when it shifts into higher range, over-revs and complete loss of power. Considering the value of the vehicle...is this going to be worth it, or has this suddenly become a candidate for Cars For Causes?

The going price for a new transmission would depend on where you are located. As far as is it worth it to repair the trans depends on milage, condition of the rest of the vehicle, and how your money situation is. With the price of new cars today fixing them up could be the way to go, but consider mpg as well as the above to make your decision. The decision is up to you we can oot make it for you, but can give you ideas as to what to consider when making this tough choice. Good luck.

It's wore out and a rebuilt tranny can cost from $900.00 to $3000.00 with labor not to mention hard parts. also engine is starting to get worn by this time. It's 16 years old so how many repairs will you need to make before it is a reliable car? that is what you need to know in order to make the right choice.

Automatic door locks wont work on my 2004 jeep grand cherokee

There is a broken wire in the rubber casing between the door and the vehicle. Take the rubber casing off and you will more than likely find a broken wire or one about to break. Been there and done that.

Taking a while to go into gear

Check the fluid level of the transmission. The model number in your vehicle is the A500,also designated the 42RE.With this trans, the fluid level is checked with the trans in Neutral, and the parking brake set, with the vehicle on level ground. If it is low on fluid, then there is a leak that must be located, and repaired.

while moving about 2-5 mph, shift your transmission into neutral but keep the vehicle rolling, then move the transfer case shift from 4HI to 2HI.
