Starts missing /large dead stop when accelerating

The missing while accelerating is likely due to ignition coils and/or spark plugs going bad. The missing while in park is a normal thing. The car has a rev limiter that will not allow the engine to rev to higher than 3000 RPM while in park.

Loud Vibration / Sound Under Acceleration And Starting Engine.

Get the engine mounts checked. A bad mount may allow part of the engine to lie on a body or frame part, allowing engine vibrations to become very loud. Torquing of the engine (under load) can cause the same type problems.

Misfire when accelerating

Year, make and model of your vehicle would help. If you can check for codes in the engine control module, it would also help in better diagnosing your possible issue and resolve.

What have you done so far as to diagnosis ? Have you checked for any vacuum leaks ? Have you checked if your coils/plugs are in good condition ? Adding as much detail information is best.

I have a 1999 Ford Expedition and it started missing about a week ago and has progressively gotten worse, but it only misses when you accelerate or the engine gets in a bind (like going up hill) any...

How many miles? Have you ever serviced the spark plugs? I will assume it's a 5.4 V8, since it's more common than a 4.6.

In my experience with 5.4's, at about 120-140k miles, the coil-on-plugs tend to start dying. You will only feel the miss on acceleration and under heavy load, but may feel a slight wobble when the truck is at idle.
Not knowing how experienced you are with vehicles, I will give a slight overview. The traditional older vehicle has a single coil that delivers high-voltage to all of the spark plugs to cause the spark and ignite the fuel in the cylinders.
On these newer vehicles, each spark plug has it's own coil that is attached to the spark plug.
Unfortunately, there is no easy way to determine which coil is not firing without unplugging the wiring harness on each coil and seeing if the behavior of the engine changes.
However, in my experience, once one coil dies, the others aren't far behind. It may be worth your while to change them all at once.
The downside is, they are not cheap at about $43/ea at autozone. The upside, is they are extremely easy to change yourself. Simply unplug the electrical connector off of each coil at the spark plug. Then remove the 8mm bolt that holds down the coil. Pull off the sparkplug and replace.

I changed a full set in the parking lot of a hotel in South Fl last year, and it took me about 1 hour.

1994 LT1 Engine "balks" under acceleration intermittently

Your fuel pump or your catalytic is plugged. have it tested with a infrared gun it will tell you if the cat is bad and if it is replace it test the fuel pump for fuel rail pressure it should read 50 psi then hold to 20 psi for 1 minute.. Also check to see if the intake plate is dirty and if it is do a top engine clean, buy GM's top engine cleaner and run it threw the engine, if you have carbon buildup the compression and cause the car to run bad and the knock sensor will not be able to adjust time. I know this sounds silly but these three things will cause your problem and so will a bad fuel filter.

2000 saab 93. Slow acceleration out of gears, especially first.

Car picks up speed if you accelerate slowly, but the engine races, with minimal speed increase of the vehicle, when the throttle pedal is pushed harder? I'm not aware of the typical layout of the Saab, so while these things below are what I would suggest you look at... Not all will apply. Note that if the clutch plate is worn or otherwise slipping, the more you race the engine, the sooner will you burn off any remaining clutch life. Take things easy 'till you have a solution..... On any vehicle, this is a classic sign of a worn, damaged, or out of adjustment clutch. Or Possibly oil contamination from a leaking crankshaft rear oil seal. It causes a glaze on the linings of the driven plate and loses friction. Or The clutch pedal is not returning to it's normal rest position when released. Check for objects trapped between the pedal and the vehicle surfaces. Or The cable (if used)may be binding, thus the clutch doesn't fully return. It may be out of adjustment. Check for adjusting points at the cable ends. If no slack exists in the cable, it appears as though the clutch is worn. The clutch may be self adjusting. It's possible for self adjusters to seize. Or The hydraulic system (if used),has sticking cylinders. You may be able to clean and reuse the cylinders....

Check for burnt intake/exhaust valves. Sounds like you have one or more not sealing correctly. Could possibly be a worn out distributor as well.
