Welcome. The ignition switch is not the part that has the sensor for the security, it is the housing for the switch and key cylinder that does. If the switch was indeed the part that was replaced, then it was the wrong item in my opinion. Does the security light always come on when it will not start?
IF so then do the RESET procedure.....

My 99 Suburban did this for a few years - never knew when we were going to get stranded. Turned out that the starter gear was getting stuck. You could reach under the passenger wheel and bang (tap) on it with a hammer the starter to free it up, that was utlimately how we proved it was the starter.

If you try to start it and it just makes a click noise and then after it sits for a little bit and then it starts up....it is the starter getting "heat soaked" from your exhaust system....do you have headers on it?

Assuming none of the wires are crossed, AND you replaced the cap rotor wires with quality replacements (meaning AC Delco) then you may have a bad coil. Remove coil from dist cap if HEI and look for any signs of arcing such as blackened areas.

If its been a while sense the fuel filter has been chg. do that and see if it dosent help, If thats not an issue than do a fuel pressure test, fuel pump could be getting weak, and dosent show up until it gets warmed up. restricted or cloged fuel filters, and weak fuel pumps have been known to do what you discribed.
