How do i reset my timing gears on my 1998 mitsubishi eclipse 2.0

Its non turbo an whaen i changed the water pump i bumped the timing gear a bit

The mechanic who did the work may have gotten coolant on the drive belts or not sufficiently adjusted the belt tension . I'd replace the belt especially if the sides of the belt are shiny.

The relay is located at the center of the dash near the gear shift lever from what i understand..... i have a 96 eclipse and the put mine behind the radio... so i assume that u have to remove the center console to access it

computer needs to reset . Disconnect battery and leave alone for no less than 1 hr. If problem persists , Check your belt tension or connections to the alternator

Did you make sure the balance shaft belt was ok? Double check to make sure the timing belt is in time and tight. They have a two step tensioner that must be set in a certain order for correct timing.
