I had the same problems exactly and I replaced the crank sensor, it is still acting like it wants to cut off. Like you said it runs great at night. I was told that it was the computer. I have not replaced it yet, because I really don't think that the computer will be the answer. Once I've done that it will be something else.

May be a bad crank sensor or on its way out. evidently when it gets hot it shuts engine down. a bad crank sensor will stop engine while driving, and will not restart for about 15 to 20 minutes later. it will keep repeating this until it is fixed. usually it sets a problem code. but other sensors have gone bad and no codes or light is not on.

What is the growling noise coming from my 94 civic motor

Water pump or pulley most likely.

Always replace water pump and pulleys when you do the timing belt.

Also you may have overtightened the belt.

NOTE, Kevlar belts will make a "whirring" noise for a few thousand miles after replacement, but not a growling.

Two weeks after Cam belt change at 71,000 miles there was a loud bang and clatter from engine. Limped home - no read out on screen to give a clue. Repairer took car back on truck. Called in and told that...

There is not many cars that have the water pump on the same belt as the cam belt.I do not know about Saabs but at a small guess,I would say the mechanic is lying.NORMALLY.The cam belt is inside is own little area and the water pump.alt, and air/con is run off the belts you normally see under the hood.
Really ,really question this because I think it is VERY wrong.
It's your car.Get in there and take photos of the engine straight away.Get the repairer to show you any parts and photo them also.He may not show you your parts so go to the shop without prewarning him.Keep a record of every phone call etc.He will try to get himself out of paying.
Good luck with this and I hope this helps

1993 Subaru Legacy 2.2? Changed timing belt, Water-pump and Thermostat and now won't start? Fires but won't turn over?

did you know how to replace timing belt it has to be installed in a specified way or it wont start
if it broke and you replaced it then the story is different as if it breaks while running usually it also bends your valves you should see a technician for this

When does the timing belt need to be changed

every 60,000 miles. These motors will encounter severe damage if the timing belt isn't serviced/or serviced properly. I recommend replacing the tensioner pully, water pump, cam/crank seals. They are all within the timing belt area. Hopefully this helps

Water pump and beyond

well at 86,000 miles ive never replaced a tensioner or idler pully on a subaru maybe at 120,000 or more, it is more time to replace the crank seal and the cam seals and then the price of the pullys is about that 450.00 but dont think pullys were needed at this time, the timing belt is a no brainer got to replace, you dont know if coolant got to belt it could weaken. but the waterpump ,belt and seals and t-stant is all that should of been done, well now your good with pullys for100,000miles. good luck.

When you change the water pump on a 90 corola 4-door sedan are there alignment marks to get the cams back "in-time" or is there a trick to it?

If you removed the timing belt to fit the new water pump then you have to reset the timing on camshafts/and bottom pully and ... the bottom pully has a mark on gear and casing and the KEYWAY should be dead straight up. and the camshafts have timing marks on the gears and casing behind the cover..
Have fun

I have a high pitched noise which appears to be coming from front right engine compartment (as you are looking at the engine) which sounds kind of like a belt that is squealing. It is intermittent. Just...

Could be several things. WHICH ENGINE?.. 4 cylinder (has three belts, power steering/water pump, alternator & A/C compressor, one tensioner pully A/C compressor), The V6 2.7 (has only one belt, 1 Idler pully and 1 tensioner pully), the V6 3.5 has two belts - A/C/alternator, and power steering - there are two tensioner pullys). Noises can be caused by the belt(s) themselves, pullys, bearings, pully bearings, water pump shaft bearings (or belts/pullys rubbing up against something). Let's not forget that there is also belt(s) behind the Timing Belt cover as well as pullys and bearings associated with the timing system. You could start by removing one accy drive belt at a time (alternator, water pump, compressor, power steering, etc) to see whether or not the noise goes away in each case. If after each case, you discover the noise is still there, it's probably behind the timing belt cover (idler/tensioner pully, water pump shaft bearing, crankshaft bearing, etc.). Good Luck

Need to ajust timing belt .we changed water pump and my son took belt and pully off

Take out #1 cylinder spark plug. make sure the piston head is at the very top of cylinder by moving the crank pulley by hand. When the piston is at the top check the crank, cam and any other pulley for little notches, these are your timing marks. Now position all the marks the same way as the crank, make sure they don't move. put the belt on and there you go.
