Hi.

To replace the air filter, remove the engine cover, at the back of the engine cover you will find five screws holding the air filter cover.

The most challenging part is removing the engine cover. Pic here shows the parts and screws to remove the cover

Follow instructions up to page 5 on this manual to remove engine cover. Disregard part after page 5, as instructions are to install a RAM intake and filter, not to replace the standard air filter.

Once you have pulled the cover out of the engine compartment, remove the screws at the back of the cover to access and replace the filter.

The full manual for Jetta 2006 is not available online. Fotocopies of the manual maintenance pages are usually provided for free at the local VW dealer.

Regards.

Changing the air filter

How to change the air filter on a 2006 VW Jetta 2.0 FSI:
1. Unplug the Mass Air Flow (MAF) sensor.
2. Undo the spring clips and pull out the turbo inlet connector.

3. Remove the two T-25 screws on the air snorkle as shown below.
4. Remove the engine cover by pulling up HARD where indicated by the green circles in the photo below.
5. DO NOT APPLY ANY FORCE where indicated by the red diamonds in the photo below.
6. If it's cold weather, make sure the engine is warm so that the rubber grommets warm up and are flexible enough to come off. Cold, brittle plastic and stiff grommets will lead to a broken airbox/cover even if you otherwise do everything correctly.
7. Pull up on the rear driver's corner (near the battery box) first, then the rear corner where the MAF sensor is, then the fronts.

How often do I change the fuel filter on my 2006 volkswagen jetta....(not a diesel)

Changing the fuel filter on a gasoline Jetta is NOT included as a routine service. Which may be good news for you (i.e. they don't need to be changed). Any reputable VW technician will recommend changing the filter between 60 and 80,000 miles, as a precaution.

What service goes on with the 60k service for a 2006 jetta?

you dont say what engine you have but even so my ten years with VW would recommend a timing belt change plus the normal oil/filters.(vw say "inspect belt and if showing signs of fraying/wear then replace")DO it anyway cos if it goes the bill is horrendous.....and who pays.???

How to change air filter for 2007 volkswagen jetta ,2.5

Hi, on the VW Jetta 2006 to 2009, the cabin filter is underneath the glove box so lay down on the floor and look under to see the 2 plastic screws. Access is gained by removing two plastic screws and gently pulling down a piece of foam insulation. Once the insulation is removed you can see the filter 8 inch long by 2 inch wide black plastic face plate. You must slide the face plate toward the passenger side door.

The face plate will now come off and the filter will still be inside and you will have to pull it down. Debris will come out onto the floor mat below. Insert the new cabin filter, put the face plate back up an slide toward he drivers side to lock in place. Replace the insulation, re-screw the 2 screws, and you're back in business with fresh air and clean hands besides!

Take care

How to change an air filter on a 2008 jetta 2.0 turbo

On the VW Jetta MkV, the cabin filter is underneath the glove box. Access is gained by removing two plastic screws, gently pulling down a piece of foam insulation, and releasing a single clip to detach the filter. It (and some debris from it) fall easily onto the floor mat below. Insert the new cabin filter, replace the insulation, re-screw the screws, and within 3 minutes, you're back in business with fresh air and clean hands besides!
