Question about 2004 Pontiac Grand Am
NEED DESCRIPTIVE DIAGRAM OF 2004 3.4L ENGINE DISTRIBUTOR SYSTEM. JUST BOUGHT USED 2004 GRAND AM. WAS JUST LEAVING HOME AND CAR DIED OUT. PROBLEM WAS NOT PASSLOCK. ENGINE WOULD CRANK BUT NOT TRY TO START AT ALL. CHECKED ALL FUSES AND RELAYS, WERE GOOD. CHECKED PLUGS AND WIRES, WERE GOOD. BEGAN CHECKING ALL VISIBLE SENSORS AND CONNECTORS. FOUND ONE PARTIALLY MELTED AND SMELLED BURNT. NEED TO REPLACE CONNECTOR. DONT KNOW WHAT IT IS CALLED. GOES ON OPPOSITE SIDE OF AIR INTAKE UNIT. WIRE COMES OUT OF A BUNDLED WIRE UNIT AND CONNECTS TO SIDE OF COIL PACK.
Okay your talking about the control module, this unit sits flat and the coil packs sit atop it, then theres two connectors on one side and another connector on the other side, here are some pictures of it hope this is the right part, there are no coils on this one but the coils sit on top also here are the connecotrs for it, napa auto parts sells them, they are called ignition control module connectors or plugs, hope this helps.
